Wow.

Just WOW.

I spent the day at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival in Jefferson, WI today. I'm taking a class on sock knitting tomorrow but, in the meantime, I spent money. A. Lot. Of. Money.

The funny thing is, I mostly bought sock yarn. I have this thing about sock yarn...I really like sock yarn even though I have yet to finish my first pair of socks (I hope to remedy that tomorrow night at Unwind). I also picked up some aerospace carbon fiber composite material DPNs (#2, #3, and #4)...I fell in love with them. I have a tendency to bend and/or break bamboo needles that small and whatever I'm knitting tends to fall off metal needles...so, these have a little grit to them (but doesn't snag yarn), they don't bend, and they're damn near impossible to break. I found a Niddy Noddy, which is something I've been kind of thinking about for a few weeks...I bought that. I got a couple of small knitting bags (like sock project sized bags - one I got for spending $50 in a booth). But, the thing I'm probably most excited about right now (and this may change tomorrow) is my pseudo-Turkish Drop Spindle. I bought a spindle...which means now I need to buy roving, right? I swore I wouldn't get into spinning in any way, shape, or form...but, I bought a spindle so now I'm going to have to start.

There were I don't even know how many booths set up...some "local" (i.e. in southern Wisconsin), some "nearby" (i.e. in Wisconsin or northern Illinois or eastern Iowa or Minnesota), and some from all over the place. They have places that sell just roving, some have yarn, others have patterns, some have a mixture, some focus only on sock yarn while others focus on huge skeins of yarn (600+ yards of worsted weight)...it was just crazy. Oh, and not to mention that you can just bury your face in some of these things. I think I'm going shopping again tomorrow after my class...just sayin'.

I should take pictures and post them. It would be grand...maybe I should just take the pictures first, right?

  1. Ohhh saw the needles as well but I'm loving the double circular so resisted the temptation. I will definitely be setting up a bigger shopping allowance for next year!
