Third Annual Knit & Crochet Blog Week: Day 5 - FRIDAY

I am participating in the Third Annual Knit & Crochet Blog Week (my second year). This week, each day will have a topic and those of us that are participating will write about said topic. The higher powers that be (i.e., the organizers) have thrown in a "Wildcard" topic, just in case there's a topic that just doesn't appeal to our tastes.  So, without further adieu........



Something A Bit Different
It's back, and this time it has the most amazing of prizes (look for the prize for 'most creative post'). This was a massive success last year, and for many it was the highlight of the Blog Week, so this year you are challenged, again, to find a new way of blogging.
This is an experimental blogging day to try and push your creativity in blogging to the same level that you perhaps push your creativity in the items you create.There are no rules of a topic to blog about but this post should look at a different way to present content on your blog. This can take one of many forms, but here a few suggestions:

• Wordless, photographic post

• Video blog post

• Podcast

• Cartoon/sketch of an idea

• Write about a subject from a different perspective (for example, you could write about a day in the life of a knitted sock from the point of view of the sock).

• Interpretive modern dance (why does someone always suggest this?)

• A poem or piece of rhyming verse

• Stop motion animation 

Sometimes I wonder if I have a creative bone in my body. I would like to think that I have some creativity left and that I didn't waste all of it in my youth...but I'm coming up with a complete blank for this entry.


I dislike podcasts and video blogs (for myself). 


I post enough photos...and a wordless photo post just isn't my thing anyway.


I'm not a creative writer. I write what I know and I don't know poetry. I don't really draw either...


Stop motion animation just isn't me. Perhaps if I were Mike Jittlov (here's a Wikipedia article). And then it would require a camera and editing and I just don't have that time.


And, let's face it, my dancing is never, ever going to be appropriate for public consumption. So, no modern dance. Perhaps a video of Little Man dancing would suffice (warning, if you don't enjoy loud, industrial/techno, I suggest you turn your volume off - for the record, it's KMFDM)....dear lord I hope the video works because it's so adorable!

Wait, that's not me. Anyway, on to something I would do........

I'll just show you some of my designs....not that they're fancy or popular on Ravelry...but they're mine. I don't talk about my designs often because it's rare that I ever get around to writing up a pattern somewhat properly and publishing it somehere (on my blog, PDF, etc.). So, while these may not seem grand, they're all mine and that's that.





My first ever design was titled: Brian's Scarf (boyfriend's scarf). Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the original photographs I took of this project. So, I'm going to direct you to two places: the pattern page and my project page. From the pattern page, you can take a link to the pattern itself...my second post on this blog. There are photographs on both pages..neither of which are very good.


Anyway, moving onward...my second design: Messed Up Moss (scarf).

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick
Needles: US #10.5/6.5mm


My third design was more of a guideline than a specific, "hard" pattern: Nellie's Hat

Then we get into some unpublished works...perhaps I'll get around to publishing eventually.
