FO Friday

Happy Friday!

This is just going to be a quick one. It's nothing fancy, just a scarf. I'm wondering if it's going to be long enough for an ever-growing 11 year old boy...right now, it's about 44" (almost 4') and about 4.5" wide. It would be okay for me (at 5'6"), not perfect but it would work. I'm wondering if this shouldn't be for someone younger. ::sigh:: Anyone have an ever-growing 11 year old boy in the Alameda area that I could borrow? Should I just have it be for someone younger?

I have vague recollections of making several scarves similar to this one just over 3 years ago. I think this might be the same stitch pattern I used for those scarves. If it's not exactly the same, it's damn close.

Anyway...the info :)

Pattern: Um.......there really isn't one. Let's call it the Chunky Scarf.
Time frame: started October 6, 2012; finished October 8, 2012
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Linen (one full skein)
Needles: US #15 (10 mm)
Size: Um......to fit an ever-growing 11 year old boy?
Modifications: None that I know of since I'm not sure if there was an original pattern and, if there was an original pattern, what it did (as for how many stitches to CO or anything like that).

Like I said...just a quickie :) For more FO Friday love, Tami has the linkies :)

  1. The scarf looks great! Those every growing boys are a problem to fit. I think your scarf will work. It's not like it's socks for feet that likely grow a visible amount every day.

    1. I'm hoping it fits....it *should* be okay. We'll see :)

  2. I suppose you're supposed to make them about as long as they are tall, right? 44" sounds okay to me. Did you block it? You might get it a tich longer :)

    1. I haven't done any blocking yet...mostly because I don't have a lot of space to actually block. I'm thinking a good soak and then, perhaps, hanging it over my shower rod in half to dry. Something like that.

  3. Oh, yes, if you block it, it should get much longer!

  4. Hmmm...I'd say depends upon what you think. Can you put some fringe on it? If you do block it, it should grow.
