Self-Imposed Year of Projects: Update #46

Here we are again. Sunday. I feel like this past week has just flown by. Little Man turned two on Friday, Husband was sick for most of the week, we reelected President Obama, and the temperatures here in the San Francisco Bay Area went from hot (seriously, when you don't have AC, 80°F is hot) to relatively cool within a three-day span. We actually went to the pool on Tuesday because it was so hot in our apartment. Thankfully it cooled off by the time we had people over to watch election coverage.

Anyway, we're not here to read about all that...it's Sunday and that means it's my Self-Imposed Year of Projects update. This week marks the beginning of my 46th week (only 6 more weeks to go, apparently). I'll be honest, not a whole lot has changed on my lists...

5. Little Man's Sweater: started October 23, 2012

......nor have I started anything.

I spent most of this week working on Hermione's Everyday Socks and Little Man's Sweater. I'm about halfway through the foot portion of the second sock. If I keep cranking on it, I should have it finished by next week but let's not hold our collective breath for that to happen. The sweater is a whole other ball of wax. I got to the point where I would start adding the sleeves and I checked the math...and noticed a problem. I checked my math a couple times. Turns out I should have CO two stitches less than what the pattern said. So, the designer is going to fix that and I'm going to do a double decrease in the middle of the back to accommodate the extra stitches. For "fun," I checked all the other math for that section and they were all correct...just the 4T size. Oh well. That's why there are testers :)

The jury is still out about what I'm going to do about the eyes and the holes on the Hippo. I'm almost thinking of doing some sort of crochet stitch to close up the holes and then doing the duplicate stitches for the eyes and such.

PLANNED HATS (at least 1 more - 12 total for the year)
1. Hermione Hearts Ron
2. Ogre Babies!
3. NIN Hat
4. Godric's Hollow Hat
5. Bergen Street Tuque

I also need to make one more hat for the year.

Anyway.........I hope you all have a fabulous week :) Perhaps I'll swing in for a WIP Wednesday but probably not FO Friday. Or maybe. Who knows.

  1. Busy week for you :O). It's cold here. Hope your husband is on the mend and Little Man laughed and smiled all day on his la hanau.

    1. Aside from being extremely tired, Husband seems to be okay. Little Man is still a stinker. I don't think that's ever going to change.

  2. Ha ha, you made me smile with your 'holding your collective breath'. Sounds like you've got it all going on. Hope your husband is now feeling better.....have a good week!

  3. 80° sounds heavenly to me, but apartments often don't have the air circulations that houses do. Hopefully you've got some fans going to keep the air moving. Otherwise the pool is the best idea!

Yes, pattern testers definitely are needed. I'm glad to hear you were able to sort it out with decreases rather than ripping!

    1. When you're outside, not running around like crazy, 80 isn't bad...but AC would have been nice for the apartment. ::sgh::

  4. 80 sounds wonderful, for some reason I thought San Fran stayed much cooler..

2 years old was actually a fun time in our house, quite a bit of drama from the boy, but fun nevertheless..enjoy it!

    1. Generally, SF doesn't get that warm (hence why no one in Alameda has AC). From what we've been told, the heat only happens maybe six or seven times a year and usually for only a day or two each time. It also depends on what area of the bay you're in. If you get into Berkley or the eastern parts of Oakland, there can be a 20+ degree difference between there and Alameda. Oh well.

  5. I'm with you on just how long it seems to take to do the foot portion of a sock... Looking forward to seeing them! Hope your man's on the mend soon.

    1. I think the foot portion of the second sock is worse than the first one...but that's me :)

  9. It's nice to meet someone who has such strong commitment to what's really important. You know, knitting (as opposed to housecleaning)
