Y2: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #14

Happy, happy Sunday!

I feel like I just wrote a Year of Projects update and I know it was last Sunday but this week has just flown by for some reason.

Anyway...let's get going! This marks the beginning of my fourteenth week and I have things to brag about! Also, it's my 350th post :)

Finished Objects (FOs)
1. San Francisco Fog Fingerless Mitts: started January 2, 2013; finished January 10, 2013
2. Don't Blink: started January 16, 2013; finished January 16, 2013  (links to one I made last year using the same yarn)
3. Dalek Dishcloth: started January 16, 2013; finished January 21, 2013 (links to one I made last year using the same yarn)
4. Woven Rib Dishcloth: started February 8, 2013; finished February 11, 2013
5. Icarus Shawl: started March 15, 2010; finished February 14, 2013
6. Little Granite Dishcloth: started February 16, 2013; finished March 2, 2013

7. Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth: started March 4, 2013; finished March 27, 2013
8. Garter Stripe Baby Socks: started March 3, 2013; finished April 4, 2013

In case you didn't notice, I finished a project! The update for it was on Friday. Little Man can't decide if he wants to wear them or not. He'll wear them for a little while, run around and play, then he'll come to me and take them off, play some more, then come back and want to wear them again. I think they make his feet too warm. Sadly, these won't fit him for too much longer. They just fit him now and I really don't want to pull out the toe and make them longer. So, they're going to be toddler socks and that is that (even though I have plenty of yarn left to make them longer).

Works-in-Progress (WIPs)
1. Mama's Vanilla Socks (round 2): started June 29, 2012
2. Eat Your Monkey Socks: started November 29, 2012
3. Little Man's Vest: started January 16, 2013
4.
Freeport Vest: started March 7, 2013

I spent a lot of time with the aforementioned socks this week but I also worked a bit on my vest. Because it takes awhile to get through a row, especially when it's a purl row, I only work a few rows before putting it down and working on something else...and this week, the "something else" was mostly the socks (I spent a teeny bit of time on my Monkey Socks but not nearly enough - I didn't even do a full pattern repeat). I'm thinking I'll get back to my other two pairs of socks now...though the designing bug has been biting me a lot and I have the urge to cast on all the things again. ::sigh::

That means my remaining lists look something like this:

Children's Items

4. Traveling Vines Scarf
5. Traveling Vines Socks (baby for sure, maybe adult-sized as well)

In "real life" news, there isn't much going on. Our back room is mostly put back together...which means that the work is done back there, our projector is mounted, the screen has been hung, and we have our home theater again. There are still some things that need to be done (like getting boxes cleared out and tables cleaned properly, especially the ones that have been in storage) but the room is useable and we had a Lord of the Rings movie marathon this weekend. Other unpacking has stalled. I'm in the process of deciding what to keep and purge so we can further unpack. So, I've been doing little things. I cleaned out a couple plastic bins, reorganized in the kitchen, moved some things around, and threw some things out. Oh, and some things went to Goodwill but that may have been last week. I don't remember. Things just mesh together after awhile.

Little Man is talking up a storm. We can't understand most of what he says but he seems to be picking up new words almost daily. He still doesn't understand "stop" or "no" but we're working on it. It's one of the reasons I don't let him walk outside without holding an adult's hand. If he wasn't a runner we wouldn't have this issue...or if he actually stopped when he was told. He also loves his new socks :)

Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and that next week is grand, too :)

Oh, and here are some photos from the last week....

The boys fell asleep in the chair

We love Bucky Badger in this house!

  1. Is that he doesn't understand "Stop" and "No" ... or that he doesn't want to hear them?! He sounds very active and busy! His socks look adorable, but I never liked socks as a kid. My feet were always hot!

    1. He gets what,"no" means to a point but I don't think he understands, "stop" at all :(

  5. I find mine just dont want to understand Stop and No when it suits them so I wish you luck with that. Lord of the Rings Movie a thon sounds wonderful and my eldest would be all on for that, he's watched them all twice in the last few weeks and read the books lol. I really loved the socks on Friday.

  6. hey..what's the big deal..I don't listen to "stop" or "no" either! Soon not listening will be accompanied by debating back with you... I had a friend who decided to not use the word "no" to her toddler..ha..it lasted about a week! Have a good week!

  8. A lot of time my guy will jabber and I will tell him, "sorry, Mommy has no idea what you just said, but I love you!" the socks look great. Have fun designing..I'm still in search of the perfect cardigan to knit my guy so if you come up with one..I'll test it! ;)

  9. You're really working through your list of projects! I need to look back on the things I had planned for the year, vs. the things I have done. Though, I can't imagine my progress will be as noteworthy.
