Y2: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #28

Hello and happy Sunday! It's another sunshiny day here in the San Francisco Bay Area....again....always. ::sigh:: I could go for a good thunderstorm.

Anyway, we're not here to talk about the weather. I mean, we can, but that's not the intent of this post. We're here because it's Sunday and that means it's time for my Self-Imposed Year of Projects update. This week marks my twenty-eighth update. Most everyone else is just getting started with their third year. Me? I'm notoriously late for everything and I was six months late to the party. Oh well. At least I made it to the party, right?

So, update twenty-eight....

5. Greyson: started July 5, 2013

I've been a monogamous knitter this week. The only project that has seen the light of day is the Greyson sweater. I showed it for WIP Wednesday this week. Sadly, the photo I took turned out more orange than burgundy. I promise that when it's finished, I'll photograph it properly. I was originally going to knit the 5T size (24" chest) but thought I had better go down a size due to yarn constraints. Funny story about that, though...when I said I was going to knit the smaller size because I didn't have enough yarn, Husband said, "So you'd have to buy more yarn to knit the bigger size? Oh darn." He was actually encouraging me to buy more yarn. I was a little bit in shock about that as he's never been one to actively encourage enhancing my stash...but I decided I would restrain myself and just knit the smaller size.

My mind is also drifting to a new project......again. I need to stop that.

It means my remaining lists look like this:

Children's Items
1. "Little 16" Newborn Socks
2. Alvin Sweater
3. Milo

Items for Me (Selfish Knitting FTW!)
1. Rose's Wrist Warmers
2. Zombie ViXen Fingerless Mitts

Household Items
1. Halloween Creepy Cloths (1)
2. Halloween Creepy Cloths (2)
3. Assorted Harry Potter Cloths
4. Assorted Doctor Who Cloths

Designs
(which may or may not be sooper seekrit - obviously the sooper seekrit ones aren't listed)
1. Little Man's Baby Blanket
2. Susan's Hat (4 versions)
3. Assorted dishcloths (set of 12?)
4. Traveling Vines Scarf
5. Traveling Vines Socks (baby and adult-sized as well) - yes, this is a WIP...still working on it...
6. Pinwheel Market Bag
7. Anything else that comes along (I have a notebook or two or seventeen somewhere with potential designs and random ideas)

I already know I'm not going to finish everything. I'm okay with this but at least I have some choices :)

In other random news....well, there hasn't been much going on, really. As of today, Husband, Little Man, and I have all been here together in the San Francisco Bay Area for exactly one year. Last year on July 14th, Little Man, Uncle Joe (one of Husband's friends), and I flew to San Francisco to live (well, not Joe, he went back to Wisconsin a couple weeks later). It's been quite a wild year. Anyway, the pool needed some work this weekend, Little Man continued to get naked a lot (and had to be hosed off a couple of times), video games have been played (Little Man demands I play video games for him to watch - no idea why), and the local news station did something stupid. That's about it.

I hope you've all had a good week!

  2. Oh oops, I think I was one of those who commented about liking the "orange" ! I guess I'll have to await new pics.

Last week I thought about complaining about our weather, but we're still lucky compared to most, so I'll just take it as it comes. Hot and sunny today, so we'd better get into the lake!

  7. OMG! Didn't someone think there was something funny with those pilot names? They need to hire a fact checker!
But on to the main event.......I've noticed you have really been finishing up things! Good for you...that has to be a good feeling. Those mini petal washcloths make great coasters. Is that what you made them for? Great idea. I love the Greyson and you're doing a beautiful job on it. Has it been a year already? Yes, because that's when I started...last year and I remember your move.
I get tired of all the sunshine here too and we could use a good "gully washer" as we have fire danger which to me is much worse! It seems like it's feast or famine though with the weather around the nation and even overseas. Take care and TTYL!

  8. I'll take the bay area air conditioning over the east coast humidity.

  9. That was a super bad, racist punk. I'm glad it was owned up to.
Sometimes I think being a monogamous knitter is a good thing because you get so much done and farther along on a project.

  10. I love the adage, "Better late than never" as it seems to describe my life most of the time! Greyson is looking good, and with the crazy weather the nation seems to be having, there is probably no rush to get it done in the next week or so---so I say, let your mind wander! (Yes, I am enabling you!)
Shaking my head over the news--how stupid can you get?
    *smiles*
