FO Friday: Wootwoot!

Happy Friday, lovely readers!

Here in my little fibery corner of the world, Fridays usually indicate a FO Friday post and today shall not disappoint. Okay, maybe it'll disappoint a little...but it's still going to be FO Friday. A twofer, even!

First up:

Windschief (link to project page)

Pattern: Windschief by Stephen West
Time Frame: Started January 3, 2014; finished January 10, 2014
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash Paints in Moss Agate
Needles: US #6 (4 mm) and US #8 (5 mm) circulars, and US #8 (5 mm) DPNs
Size: Medium
Modifications: I made it 7" before I started the crown decreases...I wasn't paying attention and I didn't feel like ripping it out. I adjusted the crown decreases by decreasing every row when I had 18 stitches between the stitch markers. It works.
Thoughts: I think if I make this again, I'd go down a needle size to US #5 and US #7. It's a little too loose for my liking but it's not for me so I'm not that worried.

Here are a couple photos of me being goofy with it (yes, I have my darning needle in my mouth).

Second, we have this:

Welcome to the World Newborn Hat (link to project page)

Pattern: Welcome to the World Newborn Hat by Nona
Time Frame: Started January 10, 2014; finished January 11, 2014
Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash Paints in Moss Agate
Needles: US #6 (4 mm) DPNs
Size: Newborn
Modifications: None. Knit as written. Gauge may have been off but as long as it isn't too small, we're good.
Thoughts: This is a fabulous stashbuster project. It's also great for using up partial skeins of worsted weight yarn. I can also imagine using several partial skeins of worsted for these little hats (stripes, multi-color, etc.). I expect more of these will be in my future.

Anyway, I'll link up with Tami as soon as I can (if I can).

  1. I really like how the stitchc pattern still shows up wonderfully in this striping yarn. The newborn hat is great for a little noggin.

  2. I love how your Windschief came out great yarn choice. I need to pick out some yarn, buy the pattern & cast one on myself.
