Y3: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #2

Happy Sunday, dear lovely readers! I see that my last update from my second Year of Projects and the first update for my third Year of Projects posted accordingly. That's always good. We were out of town on our annual cruise and I wasn't going to pay the insane prices for internet just to update my blog when I could make Blogger schedule the updates for me :) It just meant that I needed to have everything ready to go before we left town. And I did and it was fine and everything posted so, you know, woo-hoo for that!

Anyway, it's Sunday and that means it's time for my Year of Projects update. Today, of course, is my second update for my third year.....and interesting things have already happened!

Finished Objects (FOs)
1. Windschief: started January 3, 2014; finished January 10, 2014
2. Welcome to the World Newborn Hat: started January 10, 2014; finished January 11, 2014

Why yes, you did really just see a couple somethings ending up in my Finished Objects section :) I haven't done a proper FO Friday post on either one (yet) because I finished the first very late on Friday night and the second yesterday afternoon. The photos that are currently on my project pages (go click and have a look) are pre-blocking & washing. But, you get the idea. I'll probably have a proper update on Friday. Or, rather, I hope I will...

Works-In-Progress (WIPs)
1. Baby Surprise Jacket: started May 27, 2013
2. Traveling Vines Socks (Adult): started May 31, 2013
3. Dragon's Egg Socks: started September 2, 2013
4. Zombie ViXen Fingerless Mitts: started November 23, 2013

5. Milo: started December 25, 2013

I brought a few projects on the cruise because I honestly thought I'd be knitting or something. I'm so silly. I started Windschief whilst on the cruise and that was the only project I actually worked on. My Traveling Vines Socks and Zombie ViXen Fingerless Mitts also came along but I didn't work on either of those. During this last week, however, I have worked on the fingerless mitts and Milo. I'm ready to bind off for the armholes on Milo (which means I'm a whopping 24 rows in). I was going to work on it Friday night after I finished Windschief but it would have required some thought and concentration because I have to do something different and my mind wasn't quite ready for that. So, I started Welcome to the World Newborn Hat instead, using leftover yarn from Windschief. That works out really well because it was using up a partial skein, it was relatively mindless knitting, and because it's superwash, I have no problem donating it to one of the local hospitals (or to friends that are expecting - and there are a few again). So, that's kind of a big WIN all around. Woo-hoo. I expect that I'll be making more of them in my future because they're small and use up leftovers.

The rest of my lists look like this:

Wow. Those look like some looooooong lists.

I know I have five WIPs right now but because at least two of them are relatively close to being finished, I'm dreaming of my next project (when aren't I?!). I think if I finish something "small" that I'll start another small project (like a hat or baby sweater or dishcloth or something like that). When I finish a larger project (socks or the BSJ), I'll start another big project (shawl, sweater for me, socks, etc.). I think I like how that will work out...but I have startitis. ::sigh::

Anyway, I should show you some photos but I don't really have any (yet) so......I guess you're just going to have to wait until I get the photos from our cruise off the camera(s) or until I can be fussed enough to take more.

Sorry.

I hope you're all having a lovely and wonderful and fabulous weekend :)

  1. Well done on clocking up two finishes already, love both hats and I'm loving some of those projects you've gotten lined up for the next year, it's going to be good.

  2. You have some great projects lined up I can't wait to see them along the way. I have been thinking about knitting the Windschief since it came out but for some reason I haven't gotten around to it yet.

  3. You guys take fun holidays. Good for you. Glad you got some productive and successful knitting done.

  4. Better to have more knitting with you than less. Besides, the fact that you didn't find much knitting time speaks well of the vacation, doesn't it. I'm with you on not paying internet prices when on vacation ... it's pricey and it's usually dreadfully slow to boot.
