Y3: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #6

Happy Sunday!

It's time for my weekly Self-Imposed Year of Projects update and this is my sixth update. Things are happening and that's exciting and grand...

Finished Objects (FOs)
1. Windschief: started January 3, 2014; finished January 10, 2014
2. Welcome to the World Newborn Hat: started January 10, 2014; finished January 11, 2014
3. Five Hour Baby Sweater: started January 16, 2014; finished January 29, 2014
4. Baby Surprise Jacket: started May 27, 2013; finished February 2, 2014
5. Welcome to the World Newborn Hat: started February 4, 2014; finished February 4, 2014

Hey, what's that? TWO finished objects within the last week? Wha? Yeah. I was kind of awesome this past week. I spent some time seaming my Baby Surprise Jacket during the Superb Owl last Sunday evening and did a full write-up this past Friday. I don't know if I'm going to add buttons to it yet or not but I don't need to decide that right now. It has button holes so I can if I want to. I also started and finished a little baby hat in the same day. I'm having the full write-up on that this coming Friday. It matches the Five Hour Baby Sweater and will go with that as part of a set.

 Works-In-Progress (WIPs)
1. Traveling Vines Socks (Adult): started May 31, 2013
2. Dragon's Egg Socks: started September 2, 2013
3. Zombie ViXen Fingerless Mitts: started November 23, 2013
4. Milo: started December 25, 2013

My WIP list is sitting at four right now. I plan to knock out at least two, if not three of these over the next couple weeks during the Olympics. I'm participating in the WIP Dancing event and I don't know that I'll start anything new during the next two weeks...however, we'll see what happens.

Most of this week has been spent working on Milo and Zombie ViXen. I've only got a few more inches left on Milo before I do the bottom hem and I'm still doing the thumb increases for the fingerless mitts. It shouldn't take too long to finish either of them but, life does get in the way here and there. It's the life of a Mama with a Toddler.

In "real life" news, we're finally getting rain in the Bay Area. Apparently we're in the midst of the worst drought in quite awhile (going on three years at this point) the rain has been quite welcome. The only trouble with all the rain is that Puppy can't play outside for extended periods of time (lest we have a wet, muddy, smelly dog) and Little Man can't go to the park (lest we have a wet, muddy, smelly child). So, we've been coupled up for the last few days. It's not all bad, though. Little Man and I have spent time in our jammies, watched lots of movies and TV shows, played with play dough, colored, and other random things. We've also cuddled, which is always nice.

There's not much else happening around here other than that. I hope you're all having a lovely weekend :)

  1. I'm glad it's not pouring. It's like a traveling sheet of heavy mist here. Pajama days are my fave. Had to go out today and back out soon with the oldest attending a birthday party across the park.

  2. Hooray for two finished objects. How hard was that Baby Surprise sweater. I always think it would be fun to try to knit up, and then I look at the directions more closely and freak myself out. :) Glad you are getting rain--droughts are no good--our rain totals up here in Seattle this winter have been dangerously low as well as the snow pack--we might be in for water rationing this summer if it doesn't pick up soon.
    Have a great week--

  3. Well done on two completed projects this week and here's to knocking a few more off the wip list with the Olympics oh the joy you'll have then of casting on new items :)
Wet and rainy days are always good for movies and cuddles it's how we seem to have spent our last few weekends here in Ireland as it always seems to be rainy, we don't mind the rain but when your running here and there during the week doing errands in it and get wet it's nice come the weekend to just stay in from it.

  4. We are bored with rain here now!! Parts of south England appear to be sinking! At least there are days inside playing - I tend to take the boys swimming when it's raining and get proper wet!!

  5. I've been having weekends in jammies too - because I'm sick and unpleasant to be around - but it is kinds nice to sit at home and knit :0
