FO Friday: A little late and a little not late

Happy Friday :)

I've got a couple of FOs for you this lovely Friday. I thought I had done an FO Friday on this one but, apparently, I've not...so I'll do it now :)

Hat #1 - FoH (link to Project Page)
Pattern: Family of Hats (came as an insert with one of my ChaiGoo 16" circular needles)

Time Frame: started December 31, 2014; finished January 1, 2015

Yarn: Aslan Trends Pima Classico Cotton (blue) and Lion Brand Cotton Ease (white) - unknown amounts of each but I anticipate about a half-skein of the blue and only a little bit of the white.

Needles: US #5 (3.75 mm) 16" Knitter's Pride circulars and US #8 (5 mm) 16" ChaiGoo circulars and Signature DPNs

Size: Baby

Modification(s): I used a smaller needle for the ribbing (I think the pattern calls for a US #6 instead of US #5), cut the amount of ribbing in half (as it calls for a brim that you can fold over), added stripes, and changed the decreases.

Thoughts: It's a good base for a hat that you can change to fit your needs. I didn't like the decreases in the pattern so I changed them. I didn't like the idea of folding over the brim so I changed the ribbing length. I could have added a cable pattern. I just wish it had been newborn size as I had intended to donate it to the NICU at the hospital where Stormageddon was born.

Here are a few more photos of Stormageddon wearing his new hat :)

And next up, I have this one...

Hat #4 - Stitches Rock Hat (link to Project Page)

Pattern: None though it's based on the Family of Hats insert and the Gallatin Rock Stitch found here.

Time Frame: started January 16, 2015; finished January 24, 2015

Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Lake (I think) - unknown amount but much less than one skein, probably less than a half-skein, honestly.

Needles: US #5 (3.75 mm) 16" Knitter's Pride circular and US #8 (5 mm) 16" ChaiGoo circular and Signature DPNs

Size: Baby

Modification(s): None as it's mostly my pattern. Aside from how many stitches to cast on from the Family of Hats insert and the stitch pattern from the website, there were no modifications. I had to figure out how to do the decreases to keep the pattern going.

Thoughts: I think I'm going to make a series of hats using this but I have to figure out the decreases and alternate decreases for the other sizes. This would be the 0-6 month size. I also plan to have a Newborn, 6-12 month, 12-18 month, child, teen/adult small, and adult medium sizes.

And here are a couple of blury photos of Stormageddon in his other new hat (the boy has been getting lots of new hats recently). At least he's cute :)

I hope you're all having a lovely Friday :) I should be back on Sunday with my Self-Imposed Year of Projects update!
