October Goals!

Happy October! Part of me cannot believe it's October already while another part of me is screaming, "Dear Lord, where is November and the cooler weather already?!" because it's rather warm in the San Francisco Bay Area this time of year. We get, what I would consider, a late summer here. So, while the rest of the northern hemisphere starts celebrating all the cooler weather that fall brings, I'm busy dealing with heat and it sucks.

But, let's talk about October Goals and revisit my September Goals!

FIBERY GOALS
1. Work on the following (and maybe finish one or two of): Snape's StockingsWinkDragon's Egg SocksPacific ShawlFire & Ice (Fire) SocksPetty Harbour SocksLittle Man's Hat, and Sacrificial Goat #6.

I finished up the Sacrificial Goat and Petty Harbour socks. I've spent some minimal time on Wink, my Dragon's Egg Socks, Little Man's Hat, and my Fire Socks. Snape's Stockings and my Pacific Shawl were put into a pseudo-hibermation this month. Oh well...

2. Card some more puni rolags from the purple merino/silk blend and maybe spend some time spinning it.

I've done a very small amount of this. I spent more time knitting.

3. Try to partake in a fibery endeavor every day.

Trying. Not succeeding but trying!

4. Get back on the Yarn Diet Train (club yarns, of course, do not count).

We should probably just skip over this one. I've added yarn to my stash. Oops.

5. Anything else that tickles my fibery fancy (starting a new project, destashing, book destashing, organizing, etc.).

I started a bunny for Stormageddon for Christmas. It's going pretty well. I have the head and body finished and stuffed (still need a face), the pieces for the ears are done, one arm is knit. All I have left to do: make the second arm, make both legs, make both feet, make the tail, stuff said parts, sew the ears together and attach them to the head, attach the head and tail to the body, and make a face. It sounds like a lot but it really isn't that much.

I also started and finished a test knit hat. I've not done an FO Friday post yet because I'm waiting to take better photos. But, you can see some goofy photos and a blocking photo on the project page

Um....I've also sold some yarn, tossed some stash, pulled out some things to destash, and I've started a regular spreadhseet for my yarny goodness. I like Ravelry's database but I need something that isn't as cumbersome to use...not that the one on Ravelry is difficult to use but I have to take photos, upload them, then enter the yarn, and it just takes awhile. This way, I have no photos in my spreadhsheet but I have everything else.

It's been a good time.

NON-FIBERY GOALS
1. Reorganize clothes in Stormageddon's and Little Man's closet.

I went through clothes in both boys' closets, discovered that Little Man had almost no pants (and had to go shopping).....combined clothes for Stormageddon (condensed bins, mostly). Exciting times.

2. Go through Little Man's toys.

I didn't do this as thoroughly as I would have liked but we did get some done. He let go of some toys for his brother, we discussed why we throw out broken toys and he let me throw out broken ones, we did some reorganizing of the toys.....and his room was much better.

3. Drink more water.

This shouldn't be hard.....but apparently I have difficulty drinking more water. I just kind of forget about it.

4. Try to go to the gym at least 2x/week or some other method of exercise.

I was doing okay with this and then I got sick with the plague so lately, the only exercise I've gotten is the walk to and from school twice a day to drop off and pick up Little Man. Once I get rid of the plague, I'll start going again :)

5. Family history/genealogy stuff: photo albums, family stories, etc.

Nope. Moving along......

6. Keep working on the weight loss shit (thank you, Lose It app for doing the math and such for me).

Since Stormageddon was born (which was 13 months ago), I'm down 40 lbs...32 of which are since the end of February. So, you know, go me and all.

7. Keep up on the pseudo bullet journal thingie I'm doing.

Keep on keeping on :)

8. Read The Hobbit.

Nope. I really should, though...

9. Work on my recipe journal.

I've done a whole recipe into the one journal. Just one. I got a nasty split in my thumb which made it almost impossible to write and rather than having blood everywhere, I decided to let it heal properly. So, I should get back on this...

So, that wraps up September.

Let's talk about October!

  2. that bunny will be adorable!! I have a tough time drinking more water, too- I suck at it. I find that thought if I drink decaf green tea, that I can do. and I figure if it's decaf, that's pretty much water, right? It's what I tell myself, anyway.

    1. That's how I've been justifying the pumpkin spice tea I've discovered that I like. Generally speaking, I don't *do* tea, though I've found that the orange and chai mix that my husband does is pretty good in iced tea form.....and then I tried the pumpkin spice on a whim, in it's hot form, and found that it's okay.
