Stash Enhancement! or How to be Awesome at a Trunk Show!

Happy Thursday!

As the title states, I have stash enhancement to show you.......apparently February isn't starting out well for my Yarn Diet. And given that Stitches West happens in a couple weeks, it doesn't look like February is going to end well for my Yarn Diet, either. Oh well.

Anyway, on Tuesday evening, Anzula Yarns had a trunk show at my LYS and, of course, who could resist?! I should be up front, however. One of the shop employees squirreled away some Anzula Cricket in 1 Red Shoe for me, which I did not buy. Little Man is a bit of a yarn snob (I've trained him well)...and he managed to get me to buy some Anzula Cloud three different times in 1 Red Shoe. So, I have something 1400 yds of fingering weight yarn because of him, hence the squirreling away of yarn for me.

But, enough about that...that didn't come home with me but these did :)

Yarn: Anzula's For Better or Worsted
Yardage/Weight: each is ~ 200 yds; worsted weight
Colorway(s):  the blue-grey is Hippo and the green is Juniper

I bought these specifically to make Rathmore by IrishGirlieKnits. I've had the pattern as part of a collection and while I liked it, I'm not the type to wear cowls.....or so I thought. I saw the sample Carrie knit for Anzula at the trunk show on Tuesday and I tried it on, futzed with it, and found I might be able to wear a cowl like this. Sooooo, the yarn kind of jumped at me. I knew mine needed to be green but I had difficulty finding a good contrast color. Eventually, after some digging in suitcases, I found the Hippo and it was exactly what I was looking for. I almost went with an undyed natural color but it just seemed to be too harsh a contrast. The Hippo balances out some of the yellow in the Juniper :)

But that's not all!

Yarn: Anzula's Cricket
Yardage/Weight: each is ~ 250 yds; DK weight
Colorway(s): the blue is Cornflower and the yellow is Canary

After my discovery that the long infinity cowls may actually, in fact, work for me, I had a brief thought of making my own design for an infinity cowl. It will probably not be a mobius because I think that would probably drive me nuts...so, it'll probably just be a bit knit in the round type of dealie. Maybe. We'll see what happens when my brain decides it's time to work on it. Husband asked me if I was planning to make something for the Boy Scouts. ::sigh::

Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely Thursday :)

  1. Okay, thanks for steering me over to Rathmore. Now I am going to have to go out and get just the right colors to make it. Yarn diet indeed :)
I love the Cornflower and Canary.

  2. So pretty! I'm trying to yarn diet before I meet up with one of my yarnie friends in April, but it's getting tough. These skeins, of course, are definitely worthy of a binge :)

  3. Beautiful new yarn! Both pair will make great cowls. I must warn you though- cowls are addictive! I can't get enough.
