FO Friday: The Pussy Hat edition

Happy Friday! Today is my first FO Friday for 2017....and also my first FO for 2017. So, that's exciting and all. Let's get on with it.

First of all, I'm going to apologize because I have no modeled shots and I'm not sure my friend would appreciate me throwing her (modeled) photo up on the blog without permission...of course, I could ask her but then I'd have to get a photo and blah blah blah. Maybe I'll ask her and show you later.

Anyway, onward......

Pattern: None really....loosely based on the PussyHat Project by Kat Coyle  (my project page is here)

Time Frame: started January 1, 2017; finished January 15, 2017

Yarn: Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Superwash in #17 Barbie Pink (less than a half-skein but I've not measured)

Needles: US #7 (4.5 mm) and US #8 (5 mm) 16" circulars

Size: Adult's head

Modification(s): Since the pattern was only loosely based on the one listed above, I don't know if I can call these "modifications" as much as "how I made it mine." For example, I didn't do the ribbing for as long, I CO a different number of stitches, but my length is pretty correct and I did a TNBO (three-needle BO) for the top. You can find my notes on my project page.

Thoughts: Originally, I wasn't going to knit any because I *thought* I didn't have any pink yarn in my stash......and then I found a couple skeins in my stash/destash (because I just finished doing all of that) and it coincided with a friend asking if I'd knit one for her (also, she flew from San Francisco to DC for the March). And I still may make more now that I know I have the yarn for it. We'll see what I decide to do.

So, my first FO Friday :)

  1. Yeah! They are fun to wear...I have to toss the stash for some dark purple Malabrigo my Ravelry stash says I own...I'm going to make one in dark purple with a Love Wins "katrinkles" button...as our school is a Love Wins initiative school....which is a group started by Nelda Greene, who lost her daughter Ana at the Sandy Hook shooting...I also modified my hat for me...I knit one exactly and gave that one away on the bus going into Hartford for the Rally and I gave away a crocheted one too...

  2. Your hat is cute! I knit one to wear to the women's march, too! I didn't have much pink yarn, but an old skein of fingering weight, and I held it triple to get gauge. Worked out great!
