Year SIX: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #10

Happy Sunday!

If you're interested in how Stitches West transpired (and all the lovelies I came home with), the post went up on Friday and you can find it here.

In the meantime, we're into March and it's time for my 10th update of the year.

Finished Objects (FOs):
1. Pussy Hat: started January 10, 2017; finished January 16, 2017
2. Hermione's Everyday Socks (v2): started November 14, 2016; finished January 28, 2017
3. Frene Creek Farm Corriedale (spinning): started October 12, 2016; finished January 16, 2017
4. Pikachu Hat: started February 3, 2017; finished February 10, 2017
5. Trusty (v2): started December 22, 2016; finished February 24, 2017
6. Pussy Hat: started February 13, 2017; finished February 27, 2017

As expected, I finished another project this week. I've also washed and blocked both the Trusty Hat and the Pussy Hat. So, an FO Friday is forthcoming (if I can get my shit together to make it happen - we'll see about that!).

Works-in-Progress (WIPs):

1. Wink: started January 5, 2015
2. Oh, She IS a Bad Nut: started August 11, 2016
3. Fall in San Francisco (prototype 3): started October 4, 2016
4. Smooth Operator Socks: started October 13, 2016
5. Stormageddon's Vest: started October 17, 2016
6. Morvarch Aardvark: started January 1, 2017
7. Messed Up Moss: started January 4, 2017
8. Pussy Hat: started March 2, 2017

I've not done a lot of knitting this week. I've been busy doing other things. But, I did work on a few things. Obviously, I finished up a Pussy Hat (noted above) and I promptly started a second one on Thursday. This one is slightly smaller (a whole four stitches), which I hope works to my advantage because I used just over a half-skein for the first hat so I'm hoping that doing four less stitches per round will work out so I use the entire skein (or super close, without going over). I also pulled out my Smooth Operator Socks on Thursday morning.

Yes, this is the same sock. The one is a full(ish) sock shot and the other is a close-up of the spot where the heel will eventually go in. It's hard to tell but that weird dark green stripe at the end of the blue (toward the top, just below the dark blue) is the waste yarn. The pattern says to work a couple inches past that before you go back and put the afterthought heel in. I assume it's so you can check the fit properly.

Honestly, most of my knitting this week has been on those three projects.

This week was busy, long, and exhausting. The auction was last night, which was the culmination of a year's worth of work. But this past week has meant a couple of late nights, reading through emails about edits, selling raffle tickets, checking on things for the online portion of the auction (which ended on Thursday night), selling auction tickets, doing a bunch of random things...and then a good portion of yesterday afternoon was spent setting up for the auction itself and then after the auction, we had to pull everything apart and such. Busy night.

In addition to that, Husband has been dealing with being sick. Again. His surgery cannot come soon enough. But at the same time, they're not going to do it if he's sick...so, we're in an awkward position right now with regards to that. Hopefully he'll be able to do it as scheduled. I'm so over this illness crap.

Stormageddon landed himself in the after-hours pediatric clinic on Friday night. He spiked a fever of just under 102ºF, was snotting out his nose, coughing, and generally grumpy. His ears were clear, no strep...just a viral infection. Normally, if he had been acting mostly normal (napping aside), I probably wouldn't have bothered but with Husband's surgery coming up, he can't get sick. So, none of that.

Never a dull moment.

With Stormageddon being sick again, his breathing has been wonky. So, I turned on Pocoyo Thursday morning so I could have him do his nebulizer treatment. He was okay with it.

Friday afternoon, the boys and I walked about a mile to the grocery store, pharmacy, and a place called SnoCream. It serves something between ice cream and shaved ice. So, it's flavored like ice cream but it behaves more like shaved ice. Stormageddon fell asleep, however, and when he woke up, he didn't want any...and then fell back asleep.

And yesterday morning, before I went to the auction site, Puppy cuddled with Little Man. I mean, he was full out laying on him and kept sniffing at him, wanting attention. It's rare that he does it with the boys so I took a photo for posterity.

Anyway, I hope you're having a lovely weekend. Hopefully I'll be back in with an FO Friday this week. Maybe not. We'll see :)

  1. I'm glad the auction went well and it's over for your sanity. I'm sure the school appreciates greatly what you've done for their community. Hope the husband gets well so he can have his surgery. Glad Stormageddon is on the mend. Poccoyo rocks! We loved the dance off between him and that funky duck.

  2. Oh, poor little Storamgeddon, and your husband! I hope everyone gets well really soon. It's been a terrible winter for illness and viruses, they all seemed to be especially bad.
