7. Messed Up Moss: started January 4, 2017
8. Pussy Hat: started March 9, 2017

Because I have at least seven Pussy Hats to knit (total), I thought I should just continue. So, I started another one on Thursday morning. I'm doing it a little differently. I'm doing a 3x1 ribbing instead of the 2x2 I've been doing. I'm also making this one larger than the previous two. I keep forgetting that I'm making these hats for men and they have bigger heads (generally) so I've made one that fits me (the second one) and I'll probably make the rest a little bigger. It's not like they have to be astronomically larger but they do have to be a titch bigger.

In addition to that, I Kitchenered the shoulder seams on Stormageddon's vest. I need to pick up the stitches around the armholes and knit that next. And then a single crochet around the neckhole. And then weave in ends. So many ends...

My Smooth Operator Socks saw a few more rounds this week. I can't decide if I'm ready to do the afterthought heel or if I should continue working on the foot for a little longer. I'll probably work on the foot a little bit and then do the heel. I need the directions for the heel so it might be a project I tackle this week when I'm at the hospital for Husband's surgery.

Okay, kids, this week has been both a busy and exhausting week...but I also feel like I've finished nothing, which is probably true.

The auction is over. We survived. No major snafus. Husband and I only bid on two items, both of which we won. He won some Hue lights. They're LED light bulbs, they change color, and we can operate them from an app on our phone. They're fun to play with. He finally put them in on Thursday this past week. I won a four-pass to Elkus Ranch for their Sheep to Shawl event, which is in mid-June. I also went in on a couple parties, specifically a Mommy Martini night at the beginning of the school year, and an art project day for Little Man, which is in a couple weeks. It was a good night. But now, we're all still coming down from the high. I've been overly exhausted this week because, for the last several weeks, I've been operating on adrenaline. I've been crashing before Husband, with lights still on...the whole thing. I'm hoping that this week sorts itself out a bit. I doubt it but we can dream, right?

Coming down from the high meant a lot of weird neglected things have been getting done but some normal, weekly things have not....for example, I had four bins of laundry to put away as of yesterday morning. No joke. They were all washed sometime this week...I just never got around to putting them away until yesterday. But the counters and table had been cleaned and I swept the floor in places. I know, weird.

It's also why I didn't get a lot of knitting finished this week.

Oh, and the weather has been nice. I did a bunch of yard work on Thursday after going to the gym and the doctor. That was all fine and well until Stormageddon woke up from an impromptu nap on Daddy (around noon) and was crying and saying, "ow" until he fell back asleep around 3:30pm. I had no idea what was going on with him. I checked him over, took his temp, the whole nine yards...nothing. So, I called his pediatrician because it usually means an ear infection. Remember I had him to the after-hours pediatric clinic last week? Yeah, that was the beginning of the ear infection but it took almost a week for it to be painful enough to show up properly. But, his pediatrician also had to clear wax out of his ears to get a good look and the ear he was finally indicating for pain didn't have the infection. The one with a ton of wax? Yeah, that was the ear infection. I cleaned a good amount out on Friday morning, as well. Poor kiddo. One dose of ibuprofen and one dose of his amoxicillin and he's been fine ever since (he's obviously still on his antibiotic - I'm not an idiot and I don't mess around with ear infections).

This week will probably be a light week. My father-in-law is coming into town this afternoon, Little Man has his Mini Happy Feet performance tomorrow, Husband's surgery is on Tuesday.........and that's it for the week. I expect Husband will be in the hospital for a couple days but we'll see what happens. I also don't know if he wants me to stay at the hospital overnight with him or come home to the boys or a little of column A and a little of column B.

Here are some photos from this week.

He has been taught well. Ever since he was a wee babe, I would rub yarn on his face so he could determine softness. He continues to do it himself. Last year at Stitches West, he grabbed a skein in Miss Babs' booth and started rubbing it on his face. This is the Knit Picks Mighty Stitch ball that fell on the floor as I was finishing up the second Pussy Hat.

Little Man climbed into our bed one morning for some snuggles so, you know, selfie.

I've shown him by the turtles before. The turtle was pretty active this week. He was going as fast as he could around the little fenced in area before I took this photo.

Ah, the face of dislike...in this case, taking Stormageddon to the pediatrician (again). And I swear I'm not that blonde!

I had heard these were imports but I found them at CVS and Target. I don't care, it plays to my love of cookies and Cadbury Creme Eggs. I may or may not have purchased a few packages and stored them in the freezer...

Little Man and I had a crafty project on Friday. He made the snail (mostly - I helped line a few things up, like the spiral) and I made the chick....and I didn't like their directions for the pom so I made it up my own way. It worked.

I mentioned that I did some yardwork on Thursday. It involved trimming bushes and shrubs and such. I cut back one of our bushes out front and found a little colony of snails. There were probably a dozen or so hanging out in one spot but I only got a photo of these four at the same time. They've moved to cooer places (mostly lower toward the ground than they were). I actually found a rather large one that had a few shell-less babies around it. The photos didn't turn out that well, though (it was nighttime and the flash overexposed everything, as it does). Oh well.

Anyway, that's about it around here. I hope you're having a lovely weekend :)

  1. That event sounds fun. My oldest's 5th grade class went to Elkus Ranch for a sleepever two years ago. Husband helped chaperoned. The kids were split into groups and had to muck stalls and stuff. Glad the auction went well and you won on your bids.

  2. Well done with the yard work. I finally did some housework yesterday and boy is it nice to walk into a clean bathroom and kitchen. Hope hubby's hospital stay goes smoothly and glad the ear infection is on the mend.
I am very jealous of your sheep to shawl win. Sounds fantastic.

  3. I hope your husband is going to be alright...he's so young to be having surgery. I wish him the best and that all goes well. The hue lights are very cool! I thought Stormageddon was pretending to shave....that is so cute that he does that with the yarn. Love the party groups...those all sound like great fun. The Easter crafts are cute. Maybe you'll get some knitting time when you visit hubby in the hospital. I wish you all a restful week!
