14. Wasabi for Mr. K: started September 17, 2017

I didn't have enough to do, what with thirteen projects......so, I started another one. Wasabi is for my SIL's middle child (one of the two that are still in the foster system, out of three total kids). I made Bonbon for his older sister so this one is for him. Unfortunately, Wasabi is in time-out because I'm working on the tail fins, which is fine...and I thought something had to be wrong because there was no way that [k2 kfb k2]x2 was going to equal 14 sts.......turns out, I just can't read. So, I suppose later today, I can put it back in the rotation and get it finished up. I actually only have the tail fins and the two other fins (which will be attached separately) to knit, and then I need to attach the eyes. soooooo, I'm actually almost finished with this one. Go me!

I've also worked a few rows of the shawl and the Vanillaish Rainbow Socks....but that's honestly about it for knitting. I haven't had a lot of time this week, apparently.

There hasn't been a lot happening this week because we were getting ready for Husband's work BBQ party, which we catered. Again. It was on Friday so we spent time this week smoking the rest of the meat, ordering things, picking things up, multiple trips to Costco, trips to Safeway (grocery store) and Target, laundry, cleaning, packing, repacking, and blah blah blah.

So, not a lot of time for knitting. Or anything, really.

On Monday morning, Stormageddon had his audiology appointment. He was a little more cooperative so we were able to get some testing done. His hearing is fine, from what we could tell. So, our next step is to contact the school district to look into getting him speech therapy. He's three years old and although he has plenty of words, he doesn't always use them. Instead of saying, "milk" to me, he'll just go grab the gallon from the fridge and carry it to me. He's tends to "grunt & point" when he wants something, even if it's a word he knows. By this age, he should be using at least one word indications, but really, he should be getting into two- and three-word sentences....except he's not.

He was very busy before his appointment, however. He insisted he sit with a book and he studied it well.

I found this lovely moth on our recycling bin outside earlier this week. I mostly took the photo for Little Man because he was at school when I spotted it.

Speaking of bugs, Stormageddon and I had a breakfast date on...Tuesday, I think. We went to Heidi's Pies, which is locak, and sat in the corner by all the windows. He was so cute, looking at all the cars driving by...until a little bug came crawling up the window. He backed away so fast, I thought he was going to knock his chair over. All because of a little bitty bug. It wasn't a mosquito but it looked similar. He was honestly scared of it. I thought about squishing it but didn't. I don't think I want to explain that to him right no, especially as he takes things so literal lately.

On Friday, Husband's company BBQ happened. It was supposed to be in August but it was moved. So, we had three bounce houses and only four kids that used them (besides Husband and myself, and a couple of Husband's coworkers).

Little Man came over after school but I was at home with Stormageddon by that point. He was peopled out by then. But the BBQ went well and, apparently, we're doing it again next year. ::sigh::

Little Man got to ride in our friend's Porsche on the way home. Little booger.

Yesterday, I took Little Man to the park. Seven other moms (some with their kids, some without) and I drank wine in the park and folded all the donation letters and stuffed envelopes for the auction. It took us just over an hour to fold/stuff 500 letters. I think the wine helped :)

The only photo I got of him, I had to zoom in because I was halfway across the park:

Off to the right is a HUGE magnolia tree (the same one our friend and Little Man admired a few weeks ago). I've used that tree as a backdrop on more than one occasion.

It was a lovely couple of hours at the park....and none of the kids got into it, which was also helpful.

Anyway, I hope more knitting can happen now that the party is over but we'll see how things progress. I hope you're having a lovely weekend!

  1. Hopefully everything with stormgeddons speech will work out. I am glad your bbq turned out good. Sorry you have to do it again next year. Looking forward to seeing if any fiber gets played with this week.
