I finished up the baby hat prototype.....except it fits me so maybe "baby" isn't the right word. This is how it fit on Stormageddon. I'm still debating whether it needs a pompom or not. Part of me thinks I should put one on and part of me thinks I should leave it alone. Thoughts?

14. Gamer Bag: started September 28, 2017
15. Paradiddle Prototype: started October 19, 2017

In WIP news, I've done a little of this and a little of that and......yeah.

I did a half-round of the Paradiddle Prototype sock. Nothing exciting. Seriously, nothing exciting. I'm still on the ribbing. I've not even gotten to the fun part yet.

I did maybe a round or two on the Gamer Bag. Again, nothing exciting.

I did a few rows on the Neck-Down Base Shawl. I also ordered and received more yarn so I can, you know, make it a proper size. Or something.

The new hat design is almost ready. I actually took the time to figure out my gauge, which is something I haven't done on the bulky weight version (though I could - all I'd have to do is take it out and measure it). I still need to weigh it and get a ballpark on how much yarn I used. Small steps. I did write out the charts for all the various decreases...and the regular chart........so, I guess I've done some work.

Other than that, there may have been a row here and there on the baby blanket and my Vanillaish Rainbow socks. Maybe.

I'm not exciting over here. Sorry.

I'm taking out the #17UFOsin2017 section because it just depresses me to look at. So, we'll just keep on moving right along...

Here in California, the weather has finally turned a bit and I'm not sweating my patoot off each time I leave the house. That part is lovely. What isn't lovely is that it means I have to find pants that fit because I've gained some food baby over the last couple months and things aren't fitting the way they once were. Oh well. I suppose that just means I need to go to the gym and eat better. Story of everyone's life.

Tuesday was Halloween and I took the boys out for Trick or Treating. Little Man was Hulk from the new Thor Ragnarok movie. Stormageddon opted for Captain America.....three sizes too large (because that was literally the last one they had). He rocked it. We went with a friend of Little Man's that lives in the neighborhood.

We came home with so much candy. I don't even want to think about all the candy......soooo much candy!

One of the houses on our walk home from school has a "fence" made of bushes and succulents. The bushes were full of these little caterpillars. I'm not 100% positive but I think they're Gulf Fritillary Caterpillars, which are common in Florida and Texas but aren't unheard of in other places. I thought about taking one or two home...but I wasn't sure if they were biters or poisonous or "normal" or whatever. So, we left them alone, all five million of them :)

On Thursday, Little Man had his Cub Scouts meeting. He had his entire uniform and he looked so grown-up.

He's a Tiger Scout, which wasn't a rank when Husband was a kid. There are seven or eight boys, three of which go to school with him. Part of me is surprised that there aren't more but I appreciate the small number. It gives the boys the ability to bond in a smaller group, which I think will work out better in the long run. Everything is too big for him right now but he's going to grow. Apparently all the Tiger Scouts' uniforms are too large.

On Friday, one of my friends from college flew in from Minnesota. She'll be here about ten days or so. So, that also leads to not a lot of knitting....but that's fine because friend visiting! Stormageddon was excited to show off my Mickey ears. Yeah, mine...but the boys wear them. ::sigh::

I don't know what it is about this photo but he looks a lot like Little Man. I think it's just his facial expression but he just looks like his big brother.

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely weekend. I'm due for several updates like FO Friday and Stash Enhancement and.......yeah. One of these days...

  1. I opt for no pom pom. I think the pattern of the hat is perfect and shows itself off quite well.

Those boys are getting so grown up. CUB SCOUTS!! Dang, he looks so adult in his uniform.

  2. I like the hat without the pompom...my two cents. I love seeing the halloween costumes. We only had 5 come to our door this year. I miss seeing all the children like in previous years.

  3. I love your hat design!!! Are you going to publish it? I'm like you about pom-poms....on the fence. Maybe you could hold one up to it to see before actually attaching it?
The boys looked awesome for Halloween and look at Little Man in his scout uniform...too cute but don't tell him I said 'cute'. Love the Mickey ears too...those are fancy ones! Glad you had a good Halloween. If there is too much candy you could do what my daughter does...she calls on the Switch Witch....her boys get to pick out their favorites and then they can trade the rest for cash! It works every time....because cash buys Legos don't ya know! LOL! Have a good week and let me know about that hat pattern...I love it!

  4. I would go for no pom pom, but I'm a bit late! Love the boys in their outfits.
