It's true! I finished a project this week. I'm extremely behind on FO Friday posts so I might just have to do a big one with a bunch of them. Or not. Whatever. I need to get on that. But, I finished up the little elephant, she's been wrapped, and should be on her way to Wisconsin this week.

Oh wait, it occurs to me that I knit this in under a week because it definitely wasn't on last week's WIP list. So, you didn't know I was working on this. I knit a little elephant this week that will be shipped to Wisconsin along with Bonbon for Miss C (#30) and Wasabi for Mr. K (#37). They're all patterns by Susan Claudino. Don't get me wrong; I love Susan B. Anderson's toy patterns but I was itching to try something that wasn't going to require seaming (and cursing) and the Susan Claudino patterns worked perfectly. Seriously, no seaming. You do it while you're knitting the pattern. It can be a little fiddly but her instructions are excellent (for the most part).

So, with the finish, I might have to get on an FO Friday post (I'm woefully behind, I think, along with stash posts...). We'll see how things go.

Works-in-Progress (WIPs):
1. Wink: started January 5, 2015
2. Oh, She IS a Bad Nut: started August 11, 2016

10. Shetland Neck Wool on Support Spindle: started September 8, 2017
11. Boo-Yah: started September 25, 2017
12. Gamer Bag: started September 28, 2017
13. Paradiddle Prototype: started October 19, 2017
14. Rasta Ski Cap: started November 25, 2017

When I wasn't working on the elephant noted above, most of my WIP work involved the Paradiddle Prototype (socks) and the Rasta Ski Cap. I may have knitted a few rounds on the Gamer Bag but most likely not. I put in a lifeline after the ribbing on the Paradiddle Prototype in case I hate how the pattern works up. So far, I'm three repeats in and it seems to be working. So, I'll probably leave it alone. The Ski Cap is still in the midst of 2x2 ribbing hell. I've not spent a lot of time on it but I did a few rounds here and there. I had to tink back on Friday night because I managed to get off by a stitch and things weren't lining up. But, I fixed it and now I'm back on track.

Given that this is the 50th update for the year, there's very little chance of something new being picked from the above lists but I'll keep them here for transparency and consistency. But, honestly...probably nothing new anytime soon. Maybe.

Here in California, it's been a seemingly long week. I've been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work for Little Man's school's auction. I sent out a bunch of emails, I had several meetings late in the week, and just random things that kept coming up. In between all that, there were the usual errands and trying to find time to knit but also things around the house that I had been neglecting (laundry).

By the time Thursday night rolled around, I was over everything. I just wanted a break. But, you know, that doesn't really happen. I did manage to skirt away for a couple hours to go to a holiday craft fair (not all strictly crafts but you know what I mean) on Thursday night but that was about it. I may or may not have come home with two pairs of Lularoe Jack Skellington pants, some books for Little Man for Christmas, some crocheted dishcloths (yay, I don't have to make any!), and a candle. Maybe.

Here are few photos from last Sunday (after my post had gone live). We went to what was touted as a craft fair but, really, it wasn't. But, the boys had a photo session and chat with the fat man in the red coat.

I still haven't taken them for their "official" photos yet. I think we'll be doing that next week or the week after. Soon enough, soon enough.

The boys also spent some time playing with their piles of Halloween costumes and both decided they wanted to be Iron Man. ::sigh::

We did have a mishap with Stormageddon on Tuesday. I go to the gym about 5-6 times every week and when I go, Stormageddon goes to the Kids' Club, which is fine and wonderful. When we went on Tuesday, he had a little bit of a freak accident happen. They have a couple climbing ropes (that only go about 6' from ground to "ceiling") and they're anchored to the ground with chains. Only about 3-4" of chain are actually showing at the bottom. Guess who smacked his head on the chain and managed to gouge a hole on the back of his head?

Since it wasn't anything that could be stitched up, I just cleaned him up, put some antibacterial goop on it, and let him go on his way. He was barely aware that anything had happened until we were trying to clean the blood out of his hair. He's fine, though. I didn't even bother taking him to the doctor because there really wasn't anything they could do that I wasn't already doing.

On Wednesday, we went to Target, as we do.

I don't know what it is about kids and these balls but they all seem to love sitting on them. Whatever. It amuses them so I photograph it. Unfortunately, they've both gotten big enough to the point that they don't fit on there together. ::sigh::

Thursday evening brought a day of meetings for the auction (which means I got hot chocolate) and swimming lessons, which can lead to goofy faces.

Also, Stormageddon decided to bop his head along to AC/DC in the car, which you can't see from the photo but it was funny.

No, I did not knit this sweater. It's a handknit Aran sweater (acrylic something or other) that I picked up at a Just Between Friends sale last year for $8. It's still a little big on Stormageddon but he wore it and then Husband put his riding hat on him and it was too cute.

This is the last photo of Stormageddon with his long hair. I shaved his head yesterday. I was tired of the knots in his hair again. So, Husband purchased a set of clippers and I took it all off. I probably could have gone a little longer than I did but it'll grow back just fine. I haven't photographed him yet, though.

I hope you've had a lovely week. Hopefully I'll be back with a FO Friday post soon...I hope...and/or a stash post. I'm due for one of those, as well.

  1. I'm glad Little Man didn't crack open his head and it was just a scrape. What a blessing you are to head the school's auction. Wishing you and it much success!

  5. Love the photo of Iron Man and mini-IM!
Boys and scrapes just go together right?
Two weeks left, huh? That FO list is impressive. I saw the elephant pics on IG - very cute! Maybe January should focus on that 'selfish knitting' list?
