I didn't do a lot of knitting this week but I do have a half-finished object (HFO).

The coloring is all off because it was a late-night photo, but I finished the first of my FrankenSocks. I also managed to start the second one.

Outside of that, I worked a couple rounds on the Paradiddle Prototype and another Granny Square.

It wasn't a productive week for knitting. I did, however, wind yarn this week. I knew I was going to need to wind yarn for the Clapotis-AL I'm......hosting (is that the right word). I also knew I was going to run out of the purple yarn for the second FrankenSock. So, I wound my Clapotis yarn, the purple yarn for the FrankenSock and, because I had it, I also wound the orange  yarn for the FrankenSock, though I'm not sure I'm going to run out of that one. Either way, it's wound.

We had a lot of things happening this week, which left very little time for knitting. Our trip to Vegas was quick, dirty, and fun. On Sunday, a few things happened. First, our dumbass dog got loose. Thom chased him about six blocks before he got ahold of him. In the meantime, we took "delivery" of this sweetiepie:

We are sort of fostering a Pibble for a few weeks. His owner is in the process of moving to Las Vegas and is in that weird place where his apartment lease was up but he's not moving for another month. So, he's living in his studio, with his landlord's permission, but he can't have the dog there. He was seriously thinking he was going to have to give up his Pibble and Thom said, "wait, I think I have a solution," and here we are.

"Vicious breed" my butt. He's the biggest baby. And he's better behaved that Puppy. He's about a year and a half, not fixed, destructive ball of love. He's seriously destroyed every ball we had in the yard, including full-sized soccer balls and large bouncy balls. And oranges. Because they're orange and look like balls.

Early in the week, Little Man kept finding pennies on our walk home.

He found pennies on two different days, in roughly the same spot. In total, he came home with 16 pennies, a colored rock, and a ceramic bead. Lucky boy.

On Wednesday, we had a big playdate at one of the parks after school. At the end of September, Little Man's school community lost one of our own. I may or may not have written about that. A mom friend of mine died. I'm still unclear if she had a stroke and then a car accident or if she got into a car accident and it set off a stroke. Either way, she passed away at the end of September. And then her husband lost his job. Like he didn't have enough going on. In January, he and his daughter moved from California to the Baltimore, Maryland area, where they all had family. They came out for a visit this week and we had a 1st grade playdate at the park.

The park has a splash pad they turn on from roughly May-September. I packed the swimsuits because I've met my children. As expected, they both went right in there.

Thursday was the last day of school.

We got a bunch of paperwork and art projects and a report card (I'm very pleased with it). He didn't miss one day of school this year. That's a far cry from last year, when he had missed ten days before spring break. Of those seven were definitely medically cleared, and the other three were "he's running a fever and can't come to school."

Stormageddon also picked me a flower on our way home from dropping Little Man off that morning. He's so sweet sometimes.

Unfortunately, I managed to get sick this week. I have the dreaded summer cold. It was starting on Tuesday but I was trying to convince myself that it was all the wind kicking up stuff in the air. Wednesday I was worse. By Thursday, I knew I was sick. I didn't want to do anything. But we still spent Friday cleaning in Little Man's room. It was turning into a pit and needed attention. We still have work to do in there but it's much better. I can see the floor, for one thing. I was kind of feeling normal by yesterday, though I was still coughing and congested. I actually hauled myself to the gym, which I hadn't done since Tuesday.

At any rate, a lot of this week was just meh because I felt like crap. Oh well. I'm hoping next week gets better.

I hope you've had a lovely weekend and week :) I should have an FO Friday post this week. A big one. You should swing back through and check.

  2. How good of you to foster Dribble - uh, I mean Pibble! He'd scare me if I met him all alone, but I have to admit... he looks like a sweetie in the pictures. Wet, summer fun. Whoo Hoo! The splash pad sure takes me back about 20 years to when I had boys young enough to enjoy that. I remember the Indianapolis Zoo having one way back then - when you were probably not much more than a kid yourself. ;^) Hope you knock down the cold and feel better soon!

  4. Ah yes...winding yarn...something I do when my knitting mojo is at a low ebb. It is so satisfying.
