I don't know that I got a lot of knitting accomplished this week. What little I did do was on the Abracadabra Socks and the Age of Brass & Steam. I'm tossed for how many rounds to do on the cuffs of the sock. I usually do twenty-five rounds but I'm leaning toward only doing twenty because of the contrast heel/cuff/toes I'm planning to do. I don't know. I'll see how different twenty versus twenty-five rounds looks on actual socks and make a decision then.

But that's it this week for knitting, promise!

In continuing fibery events, I dyed yarn yesterday. My hands are a lovely shade of orangey-yellow as a result. I'm going to have to start selling the things I dye because I need to somehow fund my dyeing habit. I dyed a total of eleven yarny items: two skeins of worsted (560 yds each), six skeins of sock yarn (a BFL/nylon sock yarn, 464 yds each), and three sock blanks. They are currently drying in Little Man's bathroom.

This is the only photo I took during my yarn dyeing adventures yesterday.....and it's just the table with my dye all mixed and ready to go.

Also, this arrived: my information for Vogue Knitting Live in San Francisco in a couple weeks. I'm only taking one class, a Fair Isle class, in which I hope to address my University of Wisconsin Ski Hat and the ridiculously long floats (18-20 sts in spots). I hope to visit the marketplace also (duh). That's a couple weeks away, though.

The week started out with Stormageddon's birthday. We didn't do anything special. He opened presents, played, and around 7pm, we went out for ice cream. Obviously he chose chocolate (as he's wearing it all over his face). I still can't believe that boy is four years old!

On Monday, being a holiday, we went across the bay to visit our friends. We cooked out, went swimming, and that was about it.

Tuesday, we were back to the grind......which for Little Man meant finding snails at school.

We had a pretty benign week. Stormageddon had swimming lessons, Little Man had swimming lessons, I worked on stuff for the school auction, and that was about it. Nothing terribly exciting. I hope this week is more exciting but we'll see how things go.

I did dye yarn yesterday but we also started work on leveling out a spot for our new hot tub. With the pool coming down last week, we decided the time to get a hot tub was now.....and we have the perfect spot. So yesterday, we got some boards and rocks and started leveling out a 96"^2 area.....and I did a lot of the work because Husband's back doesn't agree with things that require hunching (like shoveling gravel around)....so I'm a bit sore. I expect this to last a couple days, at minimum. As long as it doesn't adversely affect my knitting, we're good.

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend :)

  2. Have fun at VK Live. I'm not going since I'll be going to STITCHES next year. I think it's a great idea to sell your dyed creations.
