With the traveling on Monday and Thanksgiving on Thursday, this week has been kind of messed up all around. My days have been off all week and are, in fact, still off (did I mention that I'm not convinced that it's Sunday, even though everything tells me it is?).

But, we did a few things this week.

I flew home on Monday morning. Actually, I took the bus to Chicago, which means I was up at 4:30am Monday morning (CDT - so it was 2:30am PDT). Anyway, I flew standby but there were something like 39 open seats and I was the only one on standby. So, I had an entire (exit) row to myself. I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them again, along with more episodes of Young Sheldon, which is a cute show but I can see why it didn't do as well as CBS Execs had hoped. I got home in the middle of the afternoon and the smoke was still crap, but it was the first "moderate" day they had had since before I left.

Tuesday, Little Man had another half-day at school and that afternoon, we went to see Crimes of Grindelwald

Tuesday night, we ended up with an unexpected visitor as our friend stayed with us for a few days. It's a long story and I'd rather not get into it. He left on Thursday evening for a pre-planned trip to Switzerland (the homeland for his family).

Wednesday, we were sitting around, watching movies (because OMG RAIN HAPPENED!) and the lights flickered.....didn't know why but it happened. We found out about two hours later...

That tree was behind our property, on the PG&E substation land. And it has been leaning northward since forever. It was trimmed/culled a bit last summer and the lean was more pronounced. Well, add some rain and the damn thing fell right over, hitting some wires on the way down (hence the flicker of our lights). Luckily, it didn't fall onto our property...and the bonus is that when PG&E finally cuts it apart, we've asked for the trunk pieces for firewood.

In addition to the tree falling over, we also decided to go apple picking in the rain. We have a little pink lady apple tree in our front yard and one of the apples had fallen off, meaning that it was probably time to pick them. So, the boys and I went out in the rain and picked apples.

I think the boys are both due for new raincoats.....oops. A problem for another day.

I mean, you can see how tall this tree is, right? I can reach the top of it without issue. It's tiny. But it produces apples :)

I found a little friend on one of the apples. He was moved to a safer location. He was also on one of the apples toward the top of the tree, which surprised me that he climbed all that way. But it was cute. We wound up with fifteen apples. We lost at least two to animal damage (maybe three or four) and another two to taste-testing earlier in the season. That's a lot of apples for such a little tree.

I did some cleaning on Friday and came across Little Man's Bucky Badger hat, which no longer fits him...but it fits Stormageddon.

With the rain and smoke, Puppy has had to stay inside, as well. He's spent a lot of time cuddling with Little Man on the couch.

Thursday was, of course, Thanksgiving. We had fifteen people in our house (seven were kids). We made turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, gravy, Brussels sprouts, creamed corn, and rolls. We had plenty of leftovers, as we do. We're working through them. We had a second Thanksgiving on Friday when our pilot friends were both in town on layovers.

Also on Friday, we put up our Christmas decorations, including the tree and the Hogwarts train. We bought a tree skirt.....except it was HUGE. We returned it and Husband ordered a much smaller one. We'll see how it goes.

We had more rain over the last few days. I don't know that it rained much yesterday but it's supposed to rain again on Tuesday. While I love that we're getting rain, I also need to do some more painting on the siding, which I can't do if it's going to be rainy and crappy. ::sigh::

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week. I'm still not convinced that it's Sunday but there you go.

  2. Hot damn Puppy is B-I-G. Shame on PG&E; they should have noticed that tree and now they'll have to repair wires; that was smart. I love how you and Little Man had a movie date together.
