Year Eight: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Early Musings (Update #6)

Happy Sunday! I'm actually writing this post a few days early so it's not really Sunday as of the writing...but it's going to post on Sunday because that's how I roll :)

Whatever. Let's just get going :)

I worked a bit on my Ewetopia Stripey Socks this week...while waiting in line at Ikea to do yet another return (but this one was legitimate - the wine rack holder thingies I picked up were for the narrower shelves and we have the wide ones). That line was.....I was at gone for almost four hours. The drive down and back took an hour total, I was in the returns line for an hour, I was in the checkout line for 45 minutes, and then I had to go through Ikea five times to find what I was looking for...because it was supposed to be in one section but that's not listed on the map and the two areas it may have pertained to were, of course, on opposite floors....so up down up down through through up down....but I found it. And on top of that, I drove around the parking lot five times to find a spot. ::sigh:: It was a long day. I think that was Sunday.

Outside of the Ewetopia Stripey Socks, I restarted the cowl I'm making for Stormageddon's speech therapist. The yarn decided it didn't want to be the San Mateo cowl so I'm making one up of my own, somewhat based on one of my design projects below (#8 Unnamed Hat). It's going to have ribbing on both ends and design stuff in the middle. So far, I'm just on the ribbing on the one end. It's fine, though :) I have awhile to work on it.

That's it though, I swear!

OMGLSGWTFBBQ Lists

Challenges (this is new for 2019)
1. Knit 2 granny squares a month (average) until I'm out of yarn (for the Granny Square Blanket in my WIP list above - I started with four cakes, I've finished two and started the third...I bought a fifth, though, for more choices): I am ahead with this challenge as I have finished six squares squares and started the 7th...and that's good because February is a messy month.
2. Knit 1 dishcloth a month (average): I failed at this for January, meaning I need to make two this month to catch up but, like I said above, February is a messy month and I don't expect to get to it. Maybe three in March or four in April?

This week has been rainy and icky on and off. And our friend left on Sunday (while I was at Ikea). Buuuuut, they did get some fun in before then.

All four of them are playing Mario Kart. Even Stormageddon....and he did pretty well for his first time (9th place overall). He had so much fun playing with his big brother and daddy and Uncle Paul.

The California weather was drunk...we had lots of rainbows on Monday. This was just one of them. Our roommate got one out or back deck that was a full one.

The rest of the week was busy with various other things...almost all of them auction-related. The few things that weren't related to the auction were swimming lessons & speech therapy. Speaking of swimming lessons, Stormageddon had a solo lesson this week because the other little boy in his class wasn't there. He did so well. Normally he's a bit of a wild child but this week, he did things I've never seen him do...and he did them really well! Little Man also had a good swimming lesson this week. Last week wasn't so great...he goes back and forth. Some weeks he has really good ones and others....not. This was a good one.

Stormageddon isn't totally naked. He is wearing underwear. I don't generally take naked photos of the boys and post them (even if they're doing something totally silly).

With the rain this week, some friends were out.

Little Man found a caterpillar on the way home Thursday. It's difficult to tell from this photo....but I have a close-up (if you want to skip it).

We aren't sure what kind but it was cute. Little Man wanted to bring it home but I told him no.

In addition to that, Husband brewed beer on Thursday and when I went out to finish the cleanup (around 6pm that night), I found this guy crawling up one of the pot lids.

It's a houseless snail. And this was at the top so it had crawled all the way up the lid. He also didn't want to come off but I got him off in the end. Also, there were lots of worms. ::sigh::

The rest of the week....well, this weekend is Auction Item Weekend so I've been at the gym all weekend at Little Man's school, working on putting auction baskets together and working on getting our auction catalog ready to go! It's a lot of work and thankfully I have people that help....but it means I'm gone from mid-day Friday until 10pm, Saturday from 8am-10pm, and then today from 8am- no later than 10pm. ::sigh:: And then the catalog is getting going and the raffle tickets and all of that. It's crazy!

Soooooo, here we are. I hope you've had a lovely week & weekend :)
