Year Eight: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - FINALLY! (Update #15)

Happy Sunday! I think I finally got it right! Maybe. Let's see how things pan out...

FO's (Finished Objects):
1. Age of Brass & Steam: started 10 August 2018; finished 7 January 2019
2. Sockhead for Little Man: started 29 November 2018; finished 25 January 2019
3. Cowl for Miss Sylvie: started 18 January 2019; finished 9 April 2019

Hey, would you look at that?! I finished something! The cowl for Stormageddon's speech therapist was finished this week....well, to be fair, I still need to weave in the ends but it's been washed and such, which is wonderful. I wanted it done before the end of May and here we are :) I haven't taken any photos yet. I'll get around to it.

WIPs (Works-in-Progress) (These are carried over year to year)
1. Wink: started 5 January 2015
2. Shetland Neck Wool (support spindle): started 8 September 2017
3. Returning: started 14 January 2018
4. Faerie Mountain Fibers Crazy Batt (EEW Mini Spinner): started 13 April 2018
5. Granny Square Blanket: started 28 April 201
6. Clapotis: started 29 June 2018
7. University of Wisconsin Ski Hat: started 28 July 2018
8. Abracadabra Socks: started 7 August 2018
9. Purl & Loop Weaving Project: started 28 August 2018
10. Campfire Socks: started 17 October 2018
11. Herbivore: started 15 November 2018
12. Ewetopia Stripey Socks: started 15 November 2018

13. Multi-Colored Merino Top (Viktor): stared 16 January 2019
14. Prototype Something Something Raindrops: started 11 April 2019

Because I finished a project, I started a new one. To be fair, it's another version of the cowl I just finished. The yarn is a titch thicker (Shalimar Yarns Breathless) and I have less yardage (370 yds vs 450 yds) so I'm thinking of making the "small" version for this one. Since I'm still on the cast on, I can adjust as needed.

Aside from that, I also worked on my Ewetopia Stripey Socks. I finished the leg and heel flap of the first sock. I need to do the heel turn before I change back to my main color (I'm doing a contrast heel/toe for these)...the yarns are slightly different thicknesses, which may alter how I do my gusset decreases (the numbers). The Ewetopia is listed as a sport weight but it's not quite a sport weight. The contrast color is from Leading Men Fiber Arts and it's just a regular sock yarn.

I think I also pulled out my Campfire Socks for a few rounds but I might be wrong about that. It's been a long week. I do know that I finished up my 7th granny square on Friday afternoon and started my 8th, which means I'm on track for this month....not that I've worked on any dishcloths but that's another issue entirely.

OMGLSGWTFBBQ Lists

Challenges (this is new for 2019)
1. Knit 2 granny squares a month (average) until I'm out of yarn (for the Granny Square Blanket in my WIP list above - I started with four cakes, I've finished two and started the third...I bought a fifth, though, for more choices): It's April. I've finished the 7th square and started the 8th...so I'm on track for this month for a hot minute. We'll see how it goes.
2. Knit 1 dishcloth a month (average): So I'm super behind. I have not knit one yet....not a single one. I should probably get going on this as I recently tossed a bunch of old crunchy ones...

This week was similar to last week: another week of Spring Break with Husband working from home most of the week. We spent time at the park, went out for a playdate, and had swimming lessons. Nothing too crazy.

Our first playdate/park trip involved friends from school. They have a Shiba Inu named Cheese and my boys love this little fluffball. So, the kids had fun, played in the sand, ran around like the goons they are....good day at the park.

Stormageddon is still climbing into our bed at night. It's a good thing he's cute. He just snuggles right in. He's not fun to wake in the morning, however.

Let's see...what else, what else......oh, Little Man leveled up for swimming lessons. He's now in level 4, which is the highest level his swimming place offers. After that....well, it depends on him. He could go the competitive route, he could be done, he could chose something different.....but for now, he's in the highest level, which is fantastic.

Apparently this is a somewhat blurry photo. Oops. Husband is changing out some lights in the house. They use these weird lightbulbs that are ridiculously expensive so he's putting in "normal" outlets, which means we're removing the old ones. Little Man acquired a couple of the old ones and has been having fun making things. He dubbed this one "Handles," which comes from a Doctor Who episode. He was very proud of it...but took it all apart the next day. ::sigh:: Children.

On Friday, we had a playdate with friends in the neighborhood. She has two children, a 9 year old boy and a 6 year old girl, and then my two boys. It was madness but we got some knitting in, which is lovely.

Stormageddon got into the chalk...then wiped it all over his hands...and then his face.

I spent yesterday morning weeding in the backyard. I would have finished if our compost bin was larger. It's been driving me nuts for awhile and I started weeding and just kind of.....kept going. Oh well. I made a sizable dent in the weeding in the woodchips. That counts, right?

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend :) I finally got it right! Don't expect it, though....

  2. I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of Miss Sylvie's cowl - it must have been a fun knit if you started another. :) And the dog named Cheese has me laughing.
