Year Eight: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Continuing on the winning streak... (Update #16)

Happy Sunday!

Let's continue with my winning streak of getting things written on time and not on the fly....or something. Woohoo!

FO's (Finished Objects):

1. Age of Brass & Steam: started 10 August 2018; finished 7 January 2019
2. Sockhead for Little Man: started 29 November 2018; finished 25 January 2019
3. Cowl for Miss Sylvie: started 18 January 2019; finished 9 April 2019

Sadly, nothing new was finished but that's okay...and I've still not woven in the ends on the cowl yet. Soon, Precious, soon...

13. Multi-Colored Merino Top (Viktor): stared 16 January 2019

14. Prototype Something Something Raindrops: started 11 April 2019

I've made some progress on things this week. I think. I finished two granny squares and started another one, which is delightful. It means I'm caught up for this month and ahead for next month.

I also worked on the prototype cowl (it's the same pattern as the Cowl for Miss Sylvie above but with less stitches)...I managed to join in the round without twisting, which is always good in my book. I have a tendency to somehow manage to twist things even if I check it over five times...but I was good this time around. Now, to be fair, I'm still in ribbing hell for several more rounds....but it's progress.

I finished up the heel turn and am now working on decreases for the Ewetopia Stripey Socks, which means I've switched back to my main color. That's fairly mindless knitting, which is helpful. It means I can take it places like swimming lessons and speech therapy...and maybe even gym if I'm working on the bike.

That was about it, though. I think.

OMGLSGWTFBBQ Lists

Challenges (this is new for 2019)
1. Knit 2 granny squares a month (average) until I'm out of yarn (for the Granny Square Blanket in my WIP list above - I started with four cakes, I've finished two and started the third...I bought a fifth, though, for more choices): It's April...and I'm caught up for the month, having finished both the 7th and 8th squares and starting the 9th. I've got that going, and that's grand.
2. Knit 1 dishcloth a month (average): So I'm super behind. I have not knit one yet....not a single one. I should probably get going on this as I recently tossed a bunch of old crunchy ones...

I feel like we're finally getting back into the swing of things. Back to our regularly scheduled lives. Husband worked from home most of the week but school was back in session so it meant things like speech therapy and swimming lessons and the gym, which really helps my anxiety. I need my schedule, I guess. Who knew?!

However, some things are still surprising....like the neighborhood turkey.

He's a bit difficult to see but he's sitting on the fence. This is across the street from Little Man's school. And this wasn't the first time I had seen him this past week. I saw him the day before and later that same day. I think he was caught, though, on the golf course across the road from our house. He's been all over. And he doesn't look like a wild turkey...he looked well-fed, almost like a pet. Stormageddon was enthralled with him.

Otherwise, it was a normal(ish) week. Friday afternoon we had a park playdate.

Stormageddon stuck around me a little bit (but mostly not) so I was able to get a couple photos. Little Man was off and running with his friends...oh well.

Yesterday, I did some yard work. We're in the process of removing some bay laurel bushes from the side of our house. We don't want to deal with the possibility of wood rot, plus they've not grown much since we put them there. The other ones on the property are HUGE but these ones are....not. So, out they go. We're going to put our garden in that location instead. I saved four snails from the compost bin when I cut down the bushes. We also went to Ikea because why not?

When we got home, the boys dyed eggs for Easter. We don't really do Easter...we picked out some Easter candy at Target and we dyed eggs. We're going across the Bay today to see our friends but that's about it. Nothing terribly exciting.

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend and Easter (if you're into that) and Passover (if you're into that) and so on and so forth. I feel like I could pop in again this week but the second I say that, shit hits the fan and I'm far too busy to do it. ::sigh:: I know people that write a little post every day. I'm not one of those people. Oh well.

  1. Love your fun pics w/the boys. We don't really celebrate Easter either.
