Rose City Zombies: started 13 August 2021; finished 21 October 2021

I finished up the newest pair of Rose City Rollers this week. I wound up with somewhere between 3-5 yds left of the main color, which isn't really enough to save. I might keep it. We'll see.

This was before I had washed them. But the ends were woven in. The main color is from Canon Hand Dyes on her Charles Self-Stripe base in Zombie Christmas. The purple contrast is from Shalimar Yarns. I'm pretty sure it's the Breathless base in Concord Grape or Grape Jelly or something like that. I can't remember off the top of my head. I have enough of that left that I could probably do another set of contrast toes. Maybe.

11. Sand Drift Blanket: started 17 January 202
12. Sockhead: started 27 September 2021

After finishing up the socks, the only other project I worked on this past week was the Sockhead hat. I was planning to do very long brim so it could be folded up on itself but I got bored after about 3.5" but here's the thing: it can still be folded up! So, I worked about 3.5" in ribbing, changed to larger needles, put a purl round in, and started knitting in stockinette. The purl round acts like a seam, of sorts, and that's how far you fold it upwards. I'm not worried about it working though I am still worried about it fitting properly. I think I cast on 156 sts, which absolutely should be enough but I'm still paranoid. I mean, the worst thing that happens is that I wind up giving it to one of the boys. It would be great if it would fit me, though!

That's all that I worked on, though. It's been a little crazy around here.

Our house has been up on the market for about a week and a half now. So far, no offers, which is making us a little nervous as this is a crazy market around here. But, we'll see how things go.

We've had some blessed rain! Glorious rain! Rain that converts smog dust and ash dust into mud and blows 40 transformers all over the city in one night (and dozens, if not hundreds more, across the entire Bay Area). We had one blow right down the street from us. Because we live so close to the substation that services San Francisco International and the city of San Francisco, when we called the local Fire Department, they came very quickly, in case there was an issue with the substation. Luckily, nothing major happened except the explosion and lots of sparks. I could see it from our bedroom window.

This is what it looked like the next day, which isn't impressive at all. It doesn't even look like anything happened. But something blew up and sent sparks all over the place.

We had friends that lost power for 24 hours, and some that lost it for 36 hours. But don't worry, PG&E is going to credit them $25 for their lost food. [insert eyeroll] What a crock. It was a bit of a hot mess around town. One of the transformers set nearby trees on fire. That one had to be fully replaced, pole and everything. The one by our house needed some work but not a full replacement, as you can see.

In addition to that, we're being drenched currently. I've heard the terms bomb cyclone and pineapple express used for it. Regardless, lots of wind and rain. Forget the transformers exploding left and right. We've had some branches down in our yard, one of the electrical poles down the street fell over onto a building at the golf course, and part of my backyard looks like a lake. Again. There are power outages all over town and mandatory evacuation orders in parts of the mountainous regions. Those are due to mudslides and flooding as there's no vegetation due to recent fires. There have been road closures from downed power lines, trees, and flooding. It's a hot mess out there.

And because why not, we were supposed to have Open House this weekend. Yesterday was a decent day but we literally only had one group come through. ::sigh:: Today, we left with Puppy and went to Costco and our realtor texted us and said that her signs were blowing over and there was a pole knocked over down the street and we should probably cancel for today. So, we came home with our Costco wares and decided to watch Rogue One when there was a knock on our door.

Yeah.

Husband and I did two tours today, while the kids played on their iPads and the weather was shit. Not even joking.

I guess people do want to come out in this mess and look at houses. ::shrug::

Also, I got my (Pfizer) booster shot earlier this afternoon. So far, I'm fine, if a bit tired. I don't know if it's the shot or the weather. Probably both, honestly. I expect I'm going to be a hot mess tomorrow, which is fine as long as the boys are at school. I had J&J originally so I have no idea what to expect here.

Here are a few other photos from this past week. Stormageddon did some of his math homework in the bed with me since his computer is packed up. He seems to like math, which is helpful.

I found this little snake in the gutter behind my car the other day. I did not pick him up but I did shoo him away so I wouldn't run him over when I backed my car out. He was gone when I got back so I'm going to assume he made his way into my yard somewhere.

Yesterday, we were driving to get lunch and we saw this on the highway. That's a van...like a work van, as opposed to a 15-passenger van...up on HUGE wheels. That thing sat up as high as most semis around here. It was ridiculous. I think the plate said something like VANKING which just made it funnier, to be honest.

Later yesterday afternoon, Little Man had a birthday party. The kids were fully masked unless they were eating/drinking and they played Laser Tag. The kids had a blast and were all sweaty and hungry, which is good. The point was for them to have fun and they did.

Other than all that, not much has been happening around here. So, with that, I'm going to wander off, maybe take a nap...or just go to bed. I hope you had a lovely week and weekend!
