I took some time to knit this week. Not a lot but I did knit and that's helpful.

I worked on the Sockhead while Husband and I watched the first two episodes of Hawkeye that dropped this week. So that was delightful.

And on Thursday, we had our friends over amidst our chaos for Thanksgiving and I brought out the Herbivore shawl and finished up that one row I was in the middle of and did another whole row. Woot woot!

But that was it. ::sigh::

The boys were home from school all week as Thanksgiving was on Thursday. I'm not a huge fan of what I think of as "The Thanksgiving Lie," wherein we're fed a bullshit story from very early on in our lives about how the Native Americans and the Pilgrims got together and shared a meal to celebrate the harvest that they worked on together. I don't like it because.....well, it's absolute bullshit and the further propagation of it continues to harm indigenous people of the Americas. I like the food. I don't necessarily like cooking all the food but that's a separate issue. Regardless, it's still classified as a Federal Holiday so most places are closed and no federal/government business goes on. In theory. And we had our friends over from across the Bay....in the chaos that is our house. And we cooked! It was fine. We made it work. The kids sat at the counter and the stager's table, the adults sat on the couch. We did, however, a turkey mishap. We brine our turkey and I put it in the brine on Monday because it was a frozen turkey. Soooo....brine on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and it was coming out on Thursday except it got that funk smell to it, which meant we had let it sit in the brine too long. So, we had to toss out a full turkey. Thankfully, Husband was able to acquire another one on Thursday morning and we brined it for a few hours and it was fine.

I spent at least some time every single day packing, including Thanksgiving day. The good news is that I'm nearly done. We have the small, everyday stuff, and the last-minute stuff that will get packed the day the moving truck arrives, and I've got some of the kitchen left. But that's seriously about it.

And the stager's stuff is still here. ::eyeroll:: However......our buyers have a buyer for their house so things are moving on that front. They put it on the market last Saturday and had the offer on Thanksgiving. ::sigh:: They didn't have a huge cell tower in their backyard. That means a whole lot of things on our end, including possibly moving up our date to close on this house, which would be wonderful! We'll see how things go.

I'm a bit lax on photos this week. I've been so busy packing that I've not really taken any. Maybe next week, as things start to calm down on that side of things...

Sorry!

I'm also looking toward next year's Year of Projects. I even went ahead and counted how many Sundays there are in 2022 and there are, in fact, 52 which means my wrap-up post will likely be wrapped into the first update for next year but maybe not. It's literally as we're moving into the new house in Wisconsin...might be off for a few weeks. Dunno yet. Woo.

Anyway, I hope you had a lovely week and weekend!

  2. oh my I am glad all is well with your busy family. When I heard this would be photoless I was a bit shocked ;). Great news on the buyers selling their home. Sounds like it is all moving in the right direction and hooray for that.
