The week started out just fine. Stormageddon had a field trip to the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison. They had lots of fun, even if all the birds were off-site (bird flu).

After that, the week went downhill.

Little Man started not feeling well on Wednesday. By Thursday, he couldn't keep food down, was throwing up, and had the backdoor squirts. I wound up taking him to the emergency room. Now, a lot of people may say that it wasn't necessary....but that pesky metabolic disorder. He hadn't had anything to eat in over 14 hours and couldn't keep anything down....so rather than let him go into a metabolic crisis, I took him in.

Four hours later, a bunch of tests (including various blood tests, urine tests, and ultrasounds), and a couple IV bags, we were on our way home. The plan was to keep him hydrated and start introducing food. Okay fine.

And then Stormageddon started not feeling well. And then mom. And then we found out about the Jif recall for salmonella. And of course I had just opened a new jar. And it was part of the recall. And then Costco called to let us know, as well.

So what the ER thought was probably a stomach virus was likely salmonella. And now Stormageddon and I have it. This was him, yesterday afternoon. I think. Maybe Saturday.

And this was Little Man on Thursday after we got home from the ER.

Aside from that, I got the fence up around our garden and Puppy got loose. He made it 3/4 of a mile down the road to our neighbors' house. I was in socks and jammies, Little Man got his boots on. Husband got out of the shower and hopped on the tractor. It was not a fun way to start my Sunday morning while sick. ::sigh::

I hope you all had a better week than we did!

  1. Wow, how horrible to have gotten a hold of bad Jif. I checked our jar and it is ok thank goodness. Hopefully you all will be fine quickly.
