Year SIX: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #6

Happy Sunday! We know why we're here so let's get going :)

Finished Objects (FOs):
1. Pussy Hat: started January 10, 2017; finished January 16, 2017
2. Hermione's Everyday Socks (v2): started November 14, 2016; finished January 28, 2017
3. Frene Creek Farm Corriedale (spinning): started October 12, 2016; finished January 16, 2017

I finished up the spinning on the Frene Creek Farm Corriedale awhile ago (January 16th) but I left it hanging out on the bobbin until this past week when I got around to putting it on the niddy-noddy and calculated yardage. It's approximately 278 yds and it's probably a DK/lt. worsted weight. I know it's not the full 4 oz of fiber I started with because there's some left on one of the bobbins (not enough for me to be fussed about) soooo, that's kind of a guess on weight but the yardage is a pretty good estimate. So, I'm finally counting it as an actual finish. I do still need to soak it and all that. All in good time.

A few projects made some progressions this week. My Smooth Operator Socks are continuing down the foot for a couple inches and then I'll go back and put the heel in. I hope. That's the idea, anyway. I've not photographed it in awhile. Maybe I should look into that for a WIP Wednesday. I've not done one of those in awhile either. Either way, I'm still slogging along on those.

Stormageddon's Vest made some progress this week because I split for the front and back (meaning I did underarm bind-offs). Soooo, we'll see how long it takes me to finish now that I've split.

The trusty hat also grew a bit this week. I've got three full pattern repeats finished and I think I'm going to have to do five before I start the crown decreases to make up for the difference in my row gauge (and for using DK instead of worsted weight yarn). No photos of that one either. I really should. It's lovely.

I also pulled out the Messed Up Moss scarf for Little Man. I'm almost through the first ball of yarn and I'm probably about 3/4 of the total length I need for him, which is fine because I have three more skeins of this yarn. So, I'll be able to make matching mittens and a matching hat. In theory. We'll see how all that goes.

Aaaaaand, I started a new project this week: a Pikachu hat for Little Man's school auction. Each classroom is responsible for a themed basked and Little Man's class got the Pokemon themed basket. So, I knew I had access to a Pikachu hat and it's not difficult...so, I'm making it for the basket. I need it done by Friday, however...I should be okay because it doesn't appear to be all that difficult.

But, you know me....no photos. Oops. Maybe I'll get a WIP Wednesday going on in addition to the FO Friday I still need to do.......

I feel like it'll just help me keep better track. That means that I've finished three things from the original list, and that's lovely since it's only the beginning of February. However......there are plenty of other things I need to attend to :)

California is not immune to the the GI plague that's sweeping the country. It has hit our house this past week, as well as many other houses. Husband got it earlier this week and was down for probably three full days (two due to weakness from the FOURTEEN pounds he lost - yes, he's gained it all back because it was almost all water weight that he lost). Little Man came down with it Friday night/Saturday morning. Thankfully, it seemed to go through him a bit quicker as he was pretty much himself by mid-afternoon yesterday. I still made him take it easy and lump around the house with me. In addition to that, I've got a cold that won't go away. It's the kind where everything is just sitting in my chest so I'm coughing randomly, and I've lost my voice...and that's about it. ::sigh::

Outside of a house full of sick people, not much has been happening (we've been sick!).

But, a few things happened..... Stormageddon got his hands on a glue stick and decided it was chapstick. I was away for a meeting when that happened so I didn't even get to see him do it. He's also learned a few new words and faces this week. He can now say, "Shaun" as in Shaun the Sheep and he also sort of says, "fish" but it comes out sounding suspiciously like, "shit," which is still adorable. He's also discovered his angry face, which I think I mentioned last week. But I got a photo of it!

He can't do it without grinning like a little fool. I believe this was described as his mischievous look, which is probably far more accurate.

Oh, and he's also discovered he can do this:

He opens up the fridge, steps onto the bottom shelf on the door, and grabs hold of the milk carton. Unfortunately, he dropped one and it cracked on the bottom. Soooo, I had to put the fridge lock back on temporarily.

I also caught a photo of him with Husband on Friday afternoon.

Husband sent me a text and said, "you need to take a photo of this." So, obviously, I did.

Little Man was less photogenic this week....or, rather, he was less available. We went to the mall one day this past week and he made this "monster" at the Lego store and they displayed it by the registers.

I also caught a photo of him playing Pikman on the WiiU. He wanted to know why I was taking his picture. Um....because I haven't taken any of you lately? Silly boy.

We've had a week around here, to say the least. I hope you're having a lovely week/weekend :) I hope to be back sometime this week but we'll see how things go.
