Today is the last day of Tour de Fleece and, honestly, I'm so woefully behind that I don't even care. That's not to say I didn't get any spinning done during TdF because, based on my last two entries in my FO section, I did get some spinning finished.

I also did some spinning this week. I pulled out my EEW Mini and finished spinning the first bobbin and started the second bobbin of the Faerie Mountain Fibers Crazy Batt.

I don't know how I feel about this little wheel yet. It might be because I'm using a crazy batt but I'm not in love with this little wheel. I think it's great for travel and in a pinch spinning but I think if I'm going to have an electric spinning wheel, I should have a bigger one. But, the jury is still out. I also haven't worked on a full-size electric wheel so I may not love those either. But, for now, I've finished up the first bobbin, which probably has about an ounce, and I started the second one.

In addition to the little spinning that I did, I also worked on my FrankenSocks and my Paradiddle Prototype Sock. I'm just working down the foot on the FrankenSock and I've almost finished the foot on the Paradiddle Prototype sock. So, good progress.

But that's it. I think.

I also fell into Slipped Stitch Studios the other day and came out with a few items but I'll post about those at a later date. I didn't go crazy - just some progress keepers and a sock sleeve.

It's been a quiet week around here. Husband was home sick on and off this week (he's feeling much better, if you're wondering).

We went to the park for an impromptu playdate on Wednesday. One of Little Man's classmates is moving within the next week or so so we met them and a couple other classmates/friends at the park. They were too busy so I only caught a photo of Stormageddon.

He was busy chasing squirrels. I wish I were kidding. We're in this huge park in the middle of town, with play equipment and everything else...and he's off chasing squirrels up trees. ::sigh:: Silly boy. That's not to say that he didn't play. He did...but he liked chasing squirrels. We also went on the little train before we left. I have photos but as they also have a couple of their friends, I'm not going to post them.

I took a selfie on Friday morning. It was when I took this photo that I realized how badly I needed to do something with my hair. So yesterday, I re-dyed it the pink color. I had the initial dye job done professionally but it faded pretty quickly, as reds/pinks are wont to do. I picked up a bottle of one of those "will wash out in x washes" and went that route. I got at least two uses out of the one bottle, so it was worth the $10, as far as I'm concerned. It's back to a vibrant pink now.

Also on Friday, we walked to the nearest Starbucks, which is about 1.25 miles away from the house. We have to go up over the highway to get there, which isn't a big deal. On our way home, Little Man spotted this:

Ducklings in the drainage ditch between the road and the golf course across the road from our house. I was a little worried as we watched one, two, three, four.....eight ducklings come out with no sign of Mama. I did not want to call the local Humane Society.

But Mama duck showed up. And they all went off happily.

I expect this next week is going to be kind of busy. Husband's work BBQ that we basically cater is happening on Friday. Currently, I have nine Home Depot 5-gal buckets with various types of pork products brining near my kitchen. Our garage is filled with various items for said BBQ (plates, silverware, cups, aluminum foil, etc.) and our garage freezer is filled with other various food items (hamburger patties, hot dogs, veggie burgers, etc.). Between now and Friday, we have to smoke all the meat in the aforementioned buckets, make a few orders for things, pick up those orders, and figure out how to transport it all. It should be fine. We've done it before and I'm not that worried about it. But, we still have to do it.

So, there's all that.

I'm kind of short this week. I hope you're all having a lovely weekend :)

  1. Have you the opportunity anywhere to try out a full sized electric wheel to see if it's something you'll like? I'm smiling at the chasing squirrels instead of the playground, go figure. Sounds like a busy week ahead but you've got things under control too.

  4. I didn't know that electric spinners were a thing, either. Though now that I wrote that I'm thinking you've possibly mentioned it in the past and I just forgot. It's a cute little thing, with lots of good reviews. Maybe you just need to try a different form (format?) of fleece... I know not what I speak of, though, so take that for what it's worth. :^P Good luck!

  5. I had no idea there was such a thing as an electric spinning wheel for domestic use! That sounds absolutely awesome! I'm really intrigued and will have to research this further!
