Y2: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Update #5

Hello my lovely followers, minions, friends, and random people that wander in! It's Sunday and that means that it's time for another installment of my Self-Imposed Year of Projects :) This marks the beginning of my fifth week and, I'll be honest, this post was written a couple days early because me and the Knitting Mamas (and some of our hoard of children) took a weekend away from the city to visit yarn shops and generally get away from it all. Soooooo.....let's get on with things :)

Finished Objects (FOs)
1. San Francisco Fog Fingerless Mitts: started January 2, 2013; finished January 10, 2013
2. Sooooper Seeeeekrit Swap Project #1: started January 16, 2013; finished January 16, 2013

3. Sooooper Seeeeekrit Swap Project #2: started January 16, 2013; finished January 21, 2013

I realized something on Friday morning...I forgot to photograph my Soooooper Seeeekrit Swap Projects before I sent them off to Texas. Oops. ::sigh:: That's okay, though. I know what I made and I'll reveal it eventually (after the box reaches its destination).

Works-in-Progress (WIPs)
1. Icarus Shawl: started March 15, 2010
2. Mama's Vanilla Socks (round 2): started June 29, 2012
3. Eat Your Monkey Socks: started November 29, 2012

4. Little Man's Vest: started January 16, 2013

Admittedly, I did not touch my shawl this week. At all. I finished the first of my Vanilla Socks late last Sunday night and am a couple inches into my second one. I don't know why but second socks tend to go a bit faster for me. I'm hoping I can churn the second one out a bit faster than six months. We'll see. I'm also working on the toe decrease of the first of my Eat Your Monkey Socks. When it's all said and done, the leg was five pattern repeats and the rest was six pattern repeats. I've also spent some time on the vest. Unfortunately, the vest is going to be on a little bit of a time out until I can decide how long it needs to be (and how many armhole decreases need to be made). I've got probably four inches into it and the pattern says I should start doing the armhole decreases around six inches...but I have a feeling it'll need to be more.

So the rest of my lists stand thus...

1. "Little 16" Newborn Socks (need to purchase)
2. Garter Stripe Baby Socks
3. Baby Surprise Jacket
4. Toddler Socks

2. Halloween Creepy Cloths (2) (need to purchase)
3. Assorted Harry Potter Cloths
4. Assorted Doctor Who Cloths

Designs (which may or may not be sooper seekrit - obviously the sooper seekrit ones aren't listed)
1. Little Man's Baby Blanket
2. Susan's Hat (4 versions)
3. Assorted dishcloths (set of 12?)
4. Traveling Vines Scarf
5. Traveling Vines Socks (baby for sure, maybe adult-sized as well)
6. Pinwheel Market Bag
7. Anything else that comes along (I have a notebook somewhere with potential designs somewhere)

Startitis has set in again. I've been going through all the patterns on my list, trying to decide what I want to start next...so far, I'm torn between the Viking Bag, the Petal Dishcloth (of which I'll probably make a few), working on a design (or a series of designs), or the Grrlfriend Market Bag. The thing is, almost all these projects are going to require cotton...which I seem to have a lot of so, you know, no big deal...but I have to dig it out before we move. ::sigh::

Anyway, that's pretty much all I have for this update. I'm going to try to get in on Wednesday for a WIP Wednesday and I'm probably not going to have anything ready for Friday but, it could happen (insert insane laughter here).

  4. Have a great time on the yarn crawl! I've clicked the links on some of those baby and toddler socks and added them to my faves. They might be just the ticket for using up some of my sock yarn scraps :)
