September Goals!

Happy September! Honestly, I have to wonder where August went. It feels like I blinked and it was gone. And not just a little gone...but really gone!

As it's September 1st, it's time to take a look at my August goals and make up some new(ish) ones for September. So, first up, the August Goals......

FIBERY GOALS
1. Work on the following (and maybe finish one or two of): Snape's StockingsWinkDragon's Egg SocksPacific ShawlFire & Ice (Fire) SocksPetty Harbour Socks, and Little Man's Hat.

I almost think it would be more advantageous to tell you what I didn't work on: my Dragon's Egg Socks, my Pacific Shawl, and Little Man's hat. Everything else had at least a little attention. I've finished the first pattern repeat on Snape's Stockings, I've placed stitch markers and picked up a lot of stitches for the raglan on Wink, I'm still working on gusset decreases on my Fire Socks. My Petty Harbour Socks....well, they almost got put in time out but I wound up tinking back maybe 10-12 rounds to fix my stupid mistake (misplacement of a gusset decrease stitch marker). I'm back on track :)

2. Card some puni rolags from the purple merino/silk blend and maybe start spinning it.

Admittedly, I didn't do as much of this as I would have liked but I did make a few rolags and I did spin a couple of them.

3. Try to partake in a fibery endeavor every day.

Let's just not talk about this one right now....I'm trying, really I am.....I just kind of suck at it.

4. Continue my Yarn Diet (club yarns, of course, do not count).

Hahahahaha.......I fell off the wagon so damn hard this month. I had an order from Webs (four skeins of Cascade 220 which were all slated for projects) and then I went to A Verb for Keeping Warm over in Oakland and I came home with four skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Loft and two skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Shelter. I think some destashing may have come in, too, but I honestly cannot remember. Oops. Maybe next month I'll get back on the wagon train...

5. Anything else that tickles my fibery fancy (starting a new project, destashing, book destashing, organizing, etc.).

I do have my ongoing destash but I also started another project. In this case, it's another Sacrificial Goat. It was from two of the skeins from Webs. Of course, both skeins are not fully used so now I have a couple more partials. I think I'm going to have to make a Frankenhat or some Frankenmitts or learn colorwork or something...but that's it, I swear.

NON-FIBERY GOALS
1. Go through clothes in Stormageddon's and Little Man's rooms.

I did go through the clothes in Stormageddon's room. Not so much in Little Man's....but he's pretty good for awhile.

2. Go through Little Man's toys.

Nope.

3. Drink more water.

I go in spurts. I'll do really well for a couple days and then I'll forget and then I'll do it again....it's an exercise in futility, I think.

4. Try to go to the gym at least 2x/week or some other "non-usual" method of exercise.

Now that I'm walking Little Man to and from school, I'm walking about 10 miles every week (it's 1.15 miles round trip to the school and I do it twice a day)....so I've not hit the gym very often. We'll get there.

5. Family history/genealogy stuff: photo albums, family stories, etc.

Not really. I did reorganize some of my notes but that was about it.

6. Keep working on the weight loss shit (thank you, Lose It app for doing the math and shit for me).

I'm working on it, the weight is slowly going down, that's all I can ask for.

7. Keep up on the pseudo bullet journal thingie I'm doing.

I missed a couple days but, for the most part, I'm right on track with this.

8. Read The Hobbit.

Nope. I need to get back to that.

9. Read How to Raise an Amazing Child the Montessori Way.

I read it in an afternoon while Stormageddon napped. Woo.

Overall, I didn't do horribly for August but I feel like I didn't do enough knitting, which is probably true.

And now, time for a look ahead to September Goals :)

FIBERY GOALS
1. Work on the following (and maybe finish one or two of): Snape's StockingsWinkDragon's Egg SocksPacific ShawlFire & Ice (Fire) SocksPetty Harbour SocksLittle Man's Hat, and Sacrificial Goat #6.
2. Card some more puni rolags from the purple merino/silk blend and maybe spend some time spinning it.
3. Try to partake in a fibery endeavor every day.
4. Get back on the Yarn Diet Train (club yarns, of course, do not count).
5. Anything else that tickles my fibery fancy (starting a new project, destashing, book destashing, organizing, etc.).

NON-FIBERY GOALS
1. Reorganize clothes in Stormageddon's and Little Man's closet.
2. Go through Little Man's toys.
3. Drink more water.
4. Try to go to the gym at least 2x/week or some other method of exercise.
5. Family history/genealogy stuff: photo albums, family stories, etc.
6. Keep working on the weight loss shit (thank you, Lose It app for doing the math and shit for me).
7. Keep up on the pseudo bullet journal thingie I'm doing.
8. Read The Hobbit.
9. Work on my recipe journal.

Most of my goals for September are the same as they were for August. A couple little changes is all it takes :)

But, here's something interesting for you to ponder. I've started bullet journaling and I had an epiphany while going through all my mother's and grandmother's and great-grandmothers' loose recipes: why am I not bullet journaling my way through the recipes? So, that's exactly what I'm going to do. It means that I get to have them all in one place instead of loose, it means I get to go through them, it means I don't have to organize them in some predetermined category (like those DIY recipe books would make me do), and it allows me to see what they have. Right now, I've started working on my own personal ones and I started going through all the ones my grandmother cut out of magazines and newspapers or kept from packaging in the late 1950s. Exciting times lie ahead :)

I hope you're having a lovely beginning of the month :)

  1. Yay on naptime. I used to love it when my girls napped. I usually snoozed too. And that's really cool you have old recipes.
