I feel like it's been another bad knitting week here. I don't know what's going on. I want to knit but there are other obligations and, let's face it, sleep is a lovely, lovely thing. So, the only project I've worked on this week: Hermione's Everyday Socks. I finished up the heel flap on one sock and I'm about halfway through the heel flap on the other one. It's not very exciting. It's not been an exciting week in the knitting world.

Oh California.......it's been a week around here. This whole going to the gym everyday thing is really getting in the way of my knitting and Ravelry time. ::sigh:: I feel like I've forever been playing catch-up this week, which is probably true.

Most of this last week.......wait, what did I do this week? I don't even really remember what all happened. I know I had two auction committee meetings (one was the general all-hands meeting last Sunday but I also had the co-chair meeting on Friday), I went to the gym a lot (like every day except Friday), and I didn't get much knitting done. I did some cleaning but that's not exciting. I wrote a post for yesterday. Honestly, this week was pretty average. Oh, I did take the boys to the mall for photos with Santa. I think that was either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Oh, let's just go through the week in photos.....

On Monday, Stormageddon and I went to the chiropractor. He was less than impressed. He hates having to sit in his stroller but if he's not buckled in, he messes with absolutely everything.

It must have been a big day, though, because he fell asleep as we walked to pick up Little Man from school. He was grumpy the rest of the day.

Apparently our afternoon at the mall was Tuesday. I only know that because my phone and photos on my laptop tell me so. We also had a lovely, sunny afternoon. Little Man stopped to inspect the neighborhood turtles on our way home from school. A house about midway down our block has a couple pet turtles that they let run around in a little fenced in area in the front yard (as long as it's not too cold). The boys like to inspect them.

Little Man insisted I take this photo in Macy's after he saw some other people do it. Soooo, I did. This was after our visit to Santa. He's wearing the reindeer hat thingie he got from Santa (they also got coloring books and sticker books).

On Wednesday, we started making gingerbread cutout cookies.

I picked up two bags of Betty Crocker gingerbread cookie limited edition mix way back in.......well, it was sometime in October because we were going to make Ninjabread Zombie Cookies. It didn't happen and everything sat and waited patiently. And Wednesday, we started. We got the cookies cut out and baked......but we had to let them cool, it was late, so we didn't frost them until Thursday. We had juuuuuust enough homemade frosting for the cookies we had.

We probably had 35 cookies originally (but a few lost their lives to breakage while we were frosting them - oh, I'm so sad we had to put those unfrosted gingerbread cookies out of their collective misery).

By Friday afternoon, we were left with this:

Four. Just four cookies. Little Man, Husband, and myself ate most of them but a few made their way to the stomachs of my auction committee co-chair people. Oops. They're gone now.

But, the "good" news is that that was only half the dough. No kidding, we have more dough. It probably wasn't split exactly in half but, you know, we have another equalish sized ball of dough. So, I expect we'll be doing that later today. The baking, at least.

While frosting was happening, Stormageddon decided to hang out with Daddy and tap him on his head. I caught him in the act. He was rather proud of himself.

Stormageddon got ahold of a Santa hat in my car on Friday afternoon when we went to pick up Little Man from school. He looked so damn cute. And then he decided to rip the ball off the end. ::sigh:: Destructive little booger.

And yesterday was an extremely lazy day. We went to the gym, I did some laundry, we made cheese fondue for dinner...that was it. Oh, and I went outside to get a huge bowl of lemons for lemonade (it takes about 10 lemons, juiced, plus water and sugar, to make a gallon). Our lemon tree is going gangbusters right now. I took probably 30 lemons off the tree and it doesn't look like I did anything. Our orange tree is behaving similarly right now. Husband is going to have to take some to work, I think.

I hope you've all had a good week. I'll probably be back next Saturday with my latest StevenBe Inappropriate box update (it came yesterday). Or I ight get sidetracked. We'll see.

  2. Good for you for being so diligent with the gym! I just joined one as well, this time of year it seems be even me important to get some exercise Not quite at the daily exercise yet, though- hopefully soon. Love how your gingerbread cookies turned out, your boys look so happy with the season! Of course, right?! ;)

  4. Congrats on your diligence with the workouts! The boys are so cute and the cookies looked yummy! I too look back at the week and wonder where it went and what exactly did I get done? I'm using Trello now to manage things and I can look at my "done" list and see exactly what I did and didn't do...sometimes it's sad. Oh, fresh lemons and lemonade and oranges! Awesome! Have a great week!

  5. I know it can be such a chore to work out and then you're like I have to get home and shower, etc. But it's worth it in the end as you're taking care of yourself. Do try to get in that knitting as you definitely deserve it.

  6. I love all the Christmas photos. Mom and I used to bake and ice gingerbread cookies- sure brings back good memories :) And I'm so envious of fresh fruit from the garden! Our growing season is way to short for anything like that. Even tomatoes can be a gamble.

  7. Gingerbread cookies! Now I am hungry and have to go make a snack. Lovely picture journal of your week. Thank you.

  8. I love gingerbread. Guess I have to wait until next year since you forgot to save some for me this year lol. You accomplished so much this year. I am totally impressed. Entering your things on Ravelry........smart move. The hermione socks are now my favorite go to pattern. Just eno7gh interest to not be boring but not too much so you don't have to watch the pattern all the time.

  9. I've never made gingerbread cookies, but your pictures sure take me back to when my boys were little. Child-decorated cookies are the best. And make for some sweet memories. I don't know how much my boys remember it, but I sure do. :) And you inspire me to get my body moving. Of course, it's midnight as I type this, so of course, the only moving I'm going to be doing at this point is in the direction of my bed. But tomorrow! I should unfold the treadmill...
