Year NINE: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Another Day Late (Update #31)

Happy Monday! I was a titch under the weather yesterday so no update happened. Please forgive me my tardiness, for I know exactly what I do. Anyway, let's have an update, yeah?

I should note that all the links take you to Ravelry. If you've had issues with Ravelry in recent weeks, you may not want to click on any of the links. All FOs and WIPs go to my project pages in Ravelry. Everything else links to the pattern pages (things I've not made yet).

I tried to make time for knitting every day this week (I didn't totally succeed but I tried). As a result, I added quite a bit to the second sock of the Rose City Rollers. I have about 25 rounds before I start the toe decreases on the second sock. I think I'm going to be playing yarn chicken but I'm not terribly fussed about it. I have some leftover sock yarns I can use on the toe if I need to. I did take a photo this week and posted it to Instagram.

I also worked on my Linen Stitch Scarf here and there. I don't know that I made a ton of progress but I think I made a little...maybe a couple of rows?

But, the big thing...I pulled out my Wink sweater this week. It took a little mathing to figure out if I needed to continue my increases or not, and said math made my brain hurt. In the end, I figured out I didn't need to continue my increases and I started moving along. I even tried it on and it fits! I'm kind of in shock about that. I added maybe 2" to the length, which isn't a lot but the rows are well over 200 sts each and progress is progress. I may get back into this one. My kids are finally old enough that I can work on this and I don't really have to worry about them getting into mischief or interrupting me. In other words, they understand when I say, "mommy's counting, give me a minute." With that said, I still have a long way to go. I'm just barely past the point where I put the sleeve stitches on holders (2")....on a top-down raglan cardigan. Don't judge me. I started this when Stormageddon was just four months old (what was I thinking?!). But I worked on it a couple times this week, which is wonderful.

It's been a fairly quiet week around here, truthfully. With the Shelter-in-Place order being brought back to Phase I, there wasn't a whole lot we could do....not that we had anything to do, either.

My co-worker wanted snuggles the other day. He spends good chunks of his day hanging out by me. He's definitely a lazy puppy.

Little Man has been snuggling on him, as well.

Speaking of Little Man, this colorful clay item below doesn't look like a whole lot but Little Man decided that even though he has no idea how how this particular musical instrument works, or how to make musical instruments, he was going to make an ocarina. He didn't do so well but he did learn about the types of things he'd need to do to make one. Husband printed him one on the 3D printer, which made him happy, too.

Little Man was also insistent that we play Settlers of Catan, which we set up last Tuesday. Husband won, which isn't surprising. Stormageddon wanted to play, too, but he lost interest after a few rounds so we just took him out of the play. It worked fine.

I've been trying to send the boys outside as often as possible. Unfortunately, our inflatable pool died a sad death last week. We think a raccoon got at it and tore a chunk out of it. We may or may not look into getting another one.

In the meantime, Little Man and Stormageddon have still been spending some time in the yard. Little Man brought this leaf-like bug into the house to show me. And it hopped onto our Avengers Infinity War poster. I caught it and released it outside.

The only other thing happening around here? Sleep. Lots and lots of sleep. Stormageddon is definitely my child: I sleep with one arm up and one arm down when I'm on my back, too.

I hope you've all had a lovely week and weekend and beginning of the week. We'll see how this week goes.

  2. Love your list! I want to knit a linen stitch cowl. I started one in fingering but it took too long. I will try one in DK. 😆
