11. Rose City Rollers: started 18 June 2020; finished 4 August 2020

Oh hai! I finished my Rose City Rollers on Tuesday, wore them Wednesday, and tossed them in the washer/dryer on Thursday. They make my feet hot so I don't know that they're necessarily a good summer sock for me but the jury is still out. I think for just random everyday things they will be fine but I was out doing a bunch of errands that required hard work (lifting and loading crap into my car, building furniture, etc.). So, we'll see. But they're done. I haven't checked yardage or any of that yet but I've got time to do that.

WIPs (Works-in-Progress) (These are carried over year to year if needed):
1. Wink: started 5 January 2015
2. Shetland Neck Wool (support spindle): started 8 September 2017
3. Returning: started 14 January 2018
4. Faerie Mountain Fibers Crazy Batt (EEW Mini): started 13 April 2018
5. Granny Square Blanket: started 28 April 2018
6. UW Ski Hat: started 11 July 2018
7. Purl & Loop Weaving Project: started 28 August 2018
8. Herbivore: started 15 November 2018
9. Linen Stitch Scarf: started 2 June 2020
10. Greenwood Fiberworks Dark BFL (Viktor): started 28 June 2020

I worked a few rows of the Wink sweater this week, nothing fancy. I also spent some time spinning. I finished up the second bobbin of the Greenwood Fiberworks Dark BFL. I'll have to get down my Lazy Kate for plying one of these days. I also need to dig out my Handy Andy so I can Andean-ply the remnants of the merino top I finished during Tour de Fleece.

But that's about it. Sort of.

The Startitis is strong in me. Last night, I spent maybe a half hour or so pulling out yarn for.....[counting] sevenish projects. I pulled out sock yarn for Little Man's Minecraft socks as well as a ball of sock yarn for some plain socks for me. I pulled out two more skeins of sock yarn and a skein of MalRios for different versions of my cowl, the five skeins of sock yarn for my Park Slope (which I've decided to start), and a bunch of cotton that I'll make into.....something. Maybe a hand-towel or some washcloths. I don't know yet. It's fancy cotton so we'll see what it tells me it wants to be. I may have pulled a bit more than that but I honestly don't remember. I've not wound anything. I think that's going to be a project for today.

Anyway, let's keep moving along...

I'm not even sure I have photos to share this week. [checks phone] Nope. I really don't have anything. I can show you a few random things like my finished Rose City Rollers:

I still have yarn leftover, too! I don't think it's all that much but it's still leftovers!

This is the second bobbin of the BFL I'm spinning on Viktor.

In other random events, school starts a week from tomorrow. We're in the process of getting the boys' rooms ready with computers/laptops, cleaning, sorting, purging, the usual. We're also working on the last bits of things that are driving us nuts around the house. We added some more shelving to the garage this past week, moved things around, threw things out, and reorganized some things. We're also fixing some wood rot on the side of the house near one of our windows. It's fairly common around here but it still sucks to have to fix it. Currently, we've got the bad crap cut out, we've sprayed the wood rot deterrent (it also deters termites and other wood bugs), put up the new replacement wood, and have used a lot of wood putty to fill in gaps we couldn't. Tuesday we're going to sand the wood filler and caulk, as long as the wood filler is dry. Then we'll probably paint on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm not looking forward to that. But here we are.

Oh, and I found a leak under our bathroom sink. ::sigh:: I'm not sure how big of a leak it is, though. Like if I catch Stormageddon playing in the bathroom sink, it's a mess under the sink...but if we just run water, wash hands, brush teeth, even if I dump a quart or so of water down the drain, nothing. So I think it has to do with the amount of water or something. I'm not sure. Regardless, I had a huge mess to take care of. To be fair, I've also been saying that I need to clean out the drawers and under the sink for awhile so this was a good excuse to do it. I threw out so much expired crap. And of course anything that was stored in cardboard was mostly toast, which was fine. It needed to be done.

Let's see....what else is happening here....not much, really. Just the usual daily things. That all changes next week when school starts. I'm going to have to adjust where I work, the boys will have to adjust where they're working....it'll be fine but I've just gotten used to the summer schedule. ::sigh::

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend. I might have an FO Friday post for the Rose City Rollers but don't count on it.

Happy knitting, happy Sunday!

  1. We start on the 26th. Today I filled out online forms for the 8th grader. Tomorrow will be the junior's turn. Getting textbooks will be a drive thru through campus.

  2. School doesn't start here until the 31st--just in time for Labor Day break. Such foolishness. I am glad your boys are schooling for home although it is certainly different than the norm. My youngest is a Sr in High School and will be doing in person classes. :-(
