Year the TENTH: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - What day is it again? (Update #16)

So, apparently it's Tuesday today. Oops. My days are all screwed up and it's all because of when I did certain chores over the weekend. ::sigh:: Anyway, now it's Tuesday and this is my latest edition of my Self-Imposed Year of Projects. I'm late. Sue me.

Most of my knitting over the past week has been on the El Panal Cowl. It's very.......Pringles. Like you just want to keep working on it, can't have just one. I've finished the fifth section and I think there are thirteen total. So, I'm not quite halfway but it's a quick pattern to work on and I can work on it while we watch things like The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. That's always delightful.

I also finished up the cuff on my second Rose City Rollers sock. Hopefully I can knock out the heel flap soon enough. I am almost positive I'm going to run out of yarn, which is fine. Socks go in shoes so I don't really care if they're mismatched on the foot. And it means I've fully used up the scraps, which is also good.

I worked a few rows on the Sand Drift Blanket the other day, as well. I used it as a "reward" for doing other things that needed to be done in parts. I was working on my Mandolorian armor (Bo Katan, specifically) and I needed to wait for paint to dry, which is as boring as it sounds, so I rewarded myself by knitting a few rows while it dried. Then I painted some more, and worked on the blanket while it dried. And so on. But it was only a few rows.

My Vanilla Socks also saw some work. I knit my requisite number of rounds for the foot and tried it on (because it's a single-ply yarn that appeared to be a bit thinner than actual fingering weight).....no dice. I was still an inch too short. So, I'm working another 20 rounds and I'll try it again, hoping that I don't need to tink back.

I thought about other things but didn't do squat. Oh well.

With the boys being back in school this week, things were much calmer, which is always helpful. Stormageddon needed a day or two to get back into things but he was fine by the end of the week. Honestly, just not being all up in each other's business is helpful. They were so over break.

We had dentist appointments next week. Sadly, Little Man and I both have cavities. His is on a baby tooth but one that probably won't come out for a couple of years so we decided to fill it. Mine is next to one of my fake ones so it's not totally unexpected. We are doing that later this week. Stormageddon needs to go back for his sealants, as well. He lost his second tooth on Saturday and has been showing off ever since.

Our roommate went in for his first vaccine on Saturday, after I gave everyone haircuts. Little Man got just a trim around his ears and along the back. Husband and Stormageddon got their one-length cuts. Stormageddon went tiny, though, at his request. He's basically bald again. He does look so sweet, though.

Also, I baked bread this week. We had smoked pork shoulder and Husband wanted Cubanos and he found a recipe for Cuban bread so I made it. I used lard from our smoked pork shoulder, so it had that BBQ taste to it. It turned out pretty well. I do plan to make it again...maybe without the smoked lard, though.

Little Man caught another snake this week. He's pretty good at catching him. This guy did not want to be caught, though. He was scared so Little Man showed him to me and then let him out again.

Little Man also spent time with Puppy. They're definitely buddies. Currently, Puppy is laying by my feet, being a Good Boi.

Other than that, not a whole lot has happened over the past week. Just getting back into the groove. I hope you had a lovely week & weekend!

  1. Oh damn, cavities, something that has hit both of my girls since they were small. I hate dental shots. Good luck!

  2. Hope things work out with your single ply sock yarn. It's my understanding that single ply doesn't wear well. I grew frustrated with yarn splitting when I started a pair with single ply yarn. Frogged and used the yarn in a shawl with bigger less pointed needles.

  3. I haven't been to dentist for over a year. Once I get my second vaccine I will book and hope no cavities.
