I've mostly been working on granny squares for the blanket. I started the last ball of yarn. I think. I honestly don't know but I'm pretty sure it's the last ball. The last one I finished though...I had to start a the new ball of yarn for the last little tri-cluster. In other words, I played yarn chicken and lost. Sadness. I also started the heel flap on the newer pair of Vanilla Socks. I'm probably halfway through that. Nothing terribly exciting.

Our stuff still hasn't arrived. I'm almost to the point where I don't believe we ever really had stuff because it's been so long since we've seen it. Their original window for arrival was between January 3rd and January 15th, which was yesterday. Then we had an updated arrival for between January 4th and January 7th. Then we heard the truck broke down somewhere in Colorado so they needed to fix that, plus there was a snowstorm. They finally got on the road again this past week.......but here we sit, without our stuff. Husband has been doing all the communication with them so I have absolutely no idea when our stuff is going to arrive.
In other random events, we've had some snow here and there, including today. We also got the hot tub up and running....only to find out that it was leaking. It's been emptied and we have to replace a part, which is difficult to do since it leaks from that spot. ::sigh:: So close. Little Man found an icicle that was probably 20" long coming down from the hot tub. That's how we knew something was up.
This was out the windows today. We didn't get much snow, regardless how this picture looks. But the flakes were HUGE.
We did have some.....let's call it "adventure" at our house this week. We had our new couches delivered from Ashley Furniture. The delivery driver came barreling up the driveway like a crazy person, then decided he wanted to be backed up so he tried to turn around....and basically got stuck. The front is in a snowbank, left from plowing the driveway, and the back has hit a snow covered patch that was kind of slick. Like, you could drive on it but you wouldn't want to be spinning your wheels...which is exactly what he was doing. Husband watched the guy almost tip his truck three times. I was upstairs, hence the photo. It was ridiculous. But, we got our new couches and no trucks tipped over in our yard.
The boys have been trying to get used to their new surroundings but it's kind of difficult when your stuff isn't here, including your bed. Stormageddon is still sleeping with Husband on the queen sized bed downstairs (guest room) and I'm sleeping with Little Man in his new queen sized bed in his room, with Puppy. It's all a bit of a hot mess yet. Stormageddon has taken to curling up wherever to watch things on his iPad. The other day, he decided Puppy's new bed was a good spot. Silly kid.
Little Man has been feeling a little meh lately. Last night he fell asleep on me while we were on the loveseat. He doesn't do this often anymore. He's just been exhausted (we all have, to be honest). I've tested him for Covid and it's come back negative. Again.
Also, we've been doing projects around the house. We're changing out all the knobs and handles on cabinets and closet doors. That's kind of an ongoing one because the handles can be problematic and without an electric drill of some sort, my hands get pretty sore. Some of the holes aren't lined up correctly. It also doesn't help that we have something like 90 handles and 40 knobs. Today, we made a platform for the washer and dryer. The ones that you can get that are specific to the machines are lovely....but with the cabinet where it is in our laundry room, the entire setup would be too tall. So, we improvised. It's eight cinderblocks with a 1" thick board on top, and an additional eight concrete bricks with a board of the same size. It gave us about 14" and we'll probably put some sort of foam pad there to help with the noise. I can still clean under everything, it will handle the weight, and it doesn't look too terrible. Clearly we don't have our washer yet. I think that's coming this week.
We've also been busy changing out lightbulbs and some light fixtures, acquiring more things from the Amazon Fairy, and trying to get as much done as possible before our stuff arrives....I feel like we have projects to work on every day. I think tomorrow's includes building a shelving unit for the garage downstairs. It won't be difficult but I'd really just like a day to not do much at all. ::sigh::
Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend!
Oh my. Adventure indeed. I loved reading this post and I am glad you are keeping your sense of humour. I hope your stuff arrives soon and that your Little Man will be feeling better sooner than soon.
ReplyDeleteOh! What an adventure. I hope your stuff arrives soon. Moving is stressful enough without your stuff going missing. I hope it shows up soon so you guys can get settled.
