Okay kids, I'm going to be up front with y'all right now: I'm 98% sure I didn't do any actual knitting this week. Like at all. I think I moved a project bag and that was it. No actual knitting.
However, I did see that as we're unpacking, my yarn is coming out of boxes and that's always delightful. I also found the box with my WIPs (well, it's a box labeled as housing said WIPs so I can only hope that they're actually in there)...and I unpacked a box that held my Linen Stitch Scarf so I have access to that one. Originally, I was going to bring that one on the cross-country drive but decided against it and because I had already packed my other WIPs, this was put in a different box. But I found it.
So, there is progress in other ways, even if it's not physical forward progress on my WIPs.

We are getting unpacked. Slowly. It's going a bit faster now that the new counters are in and the kitchen is back in order. That happened Monday & Tuesday. They had to actually go back and redo part of the counter (cut a new piece) because someone screwed up. It wasn't a huge section; it was just a small portion of backsplash that was maybe 8' long and 6" wide (or, rather, it was supposed to be that wide). That's the only reason why the install took two days instead of one. Husband and I put the cabinets back up by ourselves. We didn't have to cut down anything. It actually worked out almost perfectly. There's maybe 1/8" gap. So we have that going for us, which is good.
In addition to that, Husband got the "theater" area set up. The screen has been hung, we got a table for the projector to sit on (instead of mounting it from the ceiling), the speakers have been wired...actually, most of the basement is ready to go. Not entirely. But it's getting there. My craft room needs some attention but I can move around in there, at least.
The upstairs is still kind of a hot mess. The boys need to spend some time unpacking their boxes. It's a bit cramped. Honestly, the furniture is kind of an issue, too. We need proper bookshelf storage that isn't prone to falling over. We'll get there. For now, it's fine. But they do need to unpack.
Aside from that, there's not much happening around here. The boys have been in school all week, the weather has been cold (but no snow except for an annoying dusting the other night), and that's about it. It's all very exciting around here. Or not.
We went out to dinner where Husband went to college the other night. We met with his college advisor and his wife and had pizza. We sat up in "the boat," which looks like the side of a boat. We were the only ones back there because it was a Tuesday and it was fairly early. Stormageddon and I had a selfie.
Little Man spent some time cuddling Puppy the other day. He will literally just flop down on him and they'll sit like this for a good while.
Oh, and the boys had haircuts yesterday. Outside. In the cold. We don't have a good space to do it inside that won't spread hair all over so we went out on the front deck and I shaved it all off quickly. The bonus was a warm shower after. Maybe next time we can do it in the garage. It'll still be cold but at least we won't be out in the wind.
Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend!
You must be thrilled to have your kitchen back in order! When we moved I enjoyed unpacking my stash and visiting with my yarn, lol. I got rid of a lot when we moved, so setting the stash up really helped me see what I still had. It sounds like you guys are settling in nicely!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that the unpacking is going well, and that your cabinets are all in place. I love the picture of your son and his dog cuddled on the couch. And yay, you can move around in your craft room - that is progress!
ReplyDeleteSlowly but surely you'll get unpacked. The boys are in school so that keeps you busy. The weekend will allow more time. I "mow the lawn,"/cut the yeobo's hair every four to six weeks. He has hair of steel and it gets everywhere and is so pokey.
ReplyDeleteOh and BTW, if you're interested, my new blog's up: With Book and Wool Here and a Spatula and Thread There. Can you guess what inspired the title? ^__^ LOL
ReplyDeleteHooray for having a kitchen again. That is always my first place to organized after a move. Sounds like things are getting done and your life is not as hectic now. Love the photo of puppy and his boy.
