ELEVENTH Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Lazy Days (Update #7)

Okay, first, the good news: I have unearthed my WIPs. I can work on any WIP I want.

Now, the bad news: I've only worked on two things this week and they are my Linen Stitch Scarf, for which I did make several inches of progress, and the second Vanilla Socks, for which I maybe did a few rounds....maybe. But progress forward, however slow, is still progress.

Even though the Linen Stitch Scarf is acrylic and sticks to my dry and splitty fingers, I still enjoyed the monotony of the linen stitch. This may wind up being my first FO of the year, if I keep going at that rate. ::sigh::

A good portion of our unpacking is done. That doesn't mean there still aren't boxes and things to take care of because trust me, there is plenty of that to go around. But, the boxes in my craft room mostly contain books at this point. The boxes elsewhere in the house mostly contain books, the boys' toys, Legos (sets that are put together).....basically, things we need bookshelves for. So, until we get some bookshelves, we're at kind of an impasse with the unpacking.

Our new bed arrives tomorrow, which is delightful....because this happened after we got the foam supports and I got the bed back together:

We have a Sleep Number and it's nearing the end of it's life......as evidenced by the bubble that formed on my side. ::sigh:: It's not terrible for a few days but if we weren't getting a new bed, this would be getting replaced, as well.

The weather has been wonky. We were warm again (by Wisconsin standards - 42F in winter is warm) and then we had snow but not enough to do anything and now it's super cold again. Stormageddon got to wear his jammies to school on Friday for a class treat thing. He was super excited to be dressed in his Luigi (Super Mario Bros.) jammies. He had to make sure to wear all his winter stuff, though, because those jammies aren't exactly "winter weather" clothing.

Little Man lost a tooth this week. And he's got another one loose. Stormageddon also has a loose tooth. ::sigh:: The Tooth Fairy is going to be busy....I hope she knows where her $1 bills are hiding.

In other random events, I managed to do something to my neck/shoulder. I know how I did it but I don't know what exactly I did. I had a towel on my head from the shower on Thursday morning and I turned to get a Kleenex, and the towel shifted. Since then, lots of pain. I've tried just about everything at this point, short of going to the chiropractor/doctor (as this is muscular): ibuprofen, heat, ice, muscle relaxer, Lidocaine patch.....nothing helped. I actually brought out the big medication and while it did help, it didn't take the pain away completely, not that I expected it to...but I had hoped it would help more. It was enough that I could sleep. I can't drive because I can't hold my head in certain positions or turn quickly, I can't lift anything (meaning I haven't been able to work in my craft space, which is irritating)....it's been kind of a hot mess for the past few days with very little knitting.

This was my view yesterday morning.

Other than that, Puppy has been trying to sneak downstairs or upstairs and he's hilarious when he does. I was down in the craft room earlier this week and I heard him nudge the gate open. I came to the bottom of the stairs and found this:

The second I walked away, he came downstairs. Silly Puppy. We had his girlfriend over on Friday, as well. She's a 2 year old yellow Labrador and she loves to give kisses. I don't have pictures of that, though. I was in too much pain and not moving very far.

Anyway, I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend :)

  1. I hope your neck gets better, all that unpacking and lifting I’m sure hasn’t helped. That’s great your WIPs are now all handy to access, I still smile at some of the dates on some of yours but with a WIP of my own just having had it’s 2nd birthday I can see how it can happen.

  2. I hope your neck and shoulder heal soon. My neck is sensitive and I always have to keep it warm or even wear a light cowl during the warm days. How cute Puppy has a GF! Minnie has no problem here opening our doors even when we need privacy in the bathroom. Our Tempur-pedic is getting old. The middle is higher than the sides slept on.

  3. Puppy is adorable! We’ve got one that opens doors to where he shouldn’t be. We’re trying to work on a solution for that! Hope your shoulder starts feeling better soon!

  4. Ouch! I think I have sympathetic neck pain just hearing your story. I hope it settles soon. And YAY for finding all your wips and hope those bookshelves arrive soon!
