7. Adipose (Ravelympics 2012 project for Team Tardis)

See? Not much has changed. In fact, I tend to just copy-and-paste my lists and adjust as needed. It saves me a ton of time, trust me.

In other random events (re: life), Little Man did wind up having Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease. I wasn't too happy about that but it wasn't totally unexpected. He's never been in daycare before so a lot of these things he's going to get right away (and has, obviously). While we were at the pediatrician's office on Wednesday, I asked her about his lack of expressive speech (translation: he's 19 months old and only has eight words, three of which aren't exactly words but I know what they mean). She referred me to the "Birth-to-Three" program for an assessment. That's happening on the 26th. The words he can actually say are: "Mama," "Dada," "num" (his first word which isn't really a word but more of a reaction to food or when he's hungry), "hi," and "hi Joe" (I count as one word). He also says: "buh" (book) and "dah" (dog). Recently, as in this past week, he's started saying: "up." By this age, he should be saying at least double that. His receptive speech seems to be pretty good (i.e., he understands things). He can tell me where his nose, ears, mouth, hair, tummy, feet, fingers, and hands are. He's also knows what I mean when I say things like, "go get Mama's phone" or "let's go get Peter" (the dog). He points at things, he's very observant....he just doesn't talk. That's not to say that he's silent....he just has very few discernible words. So, we'll see what the assessment says. I'm expecting speech therapy to occur once we move. ::sigh::

Let's see...what else, what else...........oh, I got a compliment on my yard on Thursday (or was it Wednesday?). I mow the lawn, occasionally pull weeds and rake out dead overgrowth, and that's it. It's not as green as my grandpa had it but he was a little too obsessive about his yard. Anyway, I got a compliment on the yard. That was rather unexpected.

We met with the realtor about the house on Friday. It's not what I was hoping for (for the asking price) but with the market the way it is, I should have expected it. Speaking of the house, the patio doors have been ordered and will hopefully get installed sometime this week.

I think we have a moving date, too. We're looking at July 5th or 6th......which means I need to get moving on the actual packing. I have a feeling that I'm going to be calling in some favors (i.e., people to watch Little Man on the weekends so I can pack). We'll see.

I suppose that's all for this week....I'll leave you with a few random photos :)

The Moby Wrap I never used with Little Man...wanna buy it?

I eat chicken on a stick, Mama!
I hope you've all had a lovely week :)

  1. Lovely pics and life has a way of getting in the way at times you know. Hope Little Mans apt goes well. I've had one or two like that but by 3 they had caught up, they understood everything perfectly and perhaps a bit more than the little ones talking a lot but now you can't keep them quiet lol so I hope its something similar for you. Best of luck with getting organised for the move.

  2. You have a lot on! My boys (I have three )were all slow starters talking, especially littlest who is now 3.5, he wasn't saying anything at all past two, he had perfect understanding but just refused to speak, going to speech made him worse as they wanted him to sign to take pressure off talking, he then stopped eye contact, I ended up calling a halt to meetings and then low and behold, out it all came! Little pickle, just stubborn like his mummy! I hope that your assessment goes well, and that you get all the help that you need, I'm sure you will!

Your little man is very cute!

  3. We've always had good luck selling this and that on Kijiji. Do you have that where you are?

Best of luck with Little Man's tests. Sounds to me like he's a bit young to start worrying, but what would I know, as I haven't any kids.

And good luck with the move. My goodness you have ALOT on your plate right now! I tend to be very last minute about my packing but somehow it all works out!

    1. We probably have Kijiji here but Craigslist is totally free (for one thing).

  4. Oh dear--what a full plate you have right now. I certainly wouldn't expect too much knitting to happen! I had 2 our 4 kids which needed speech therapy. One just needed a little boost to get going, the baby of the family actually ended up in speech therapy off and on until he was 12 years old--lots of issues going on but fine now--I happen to be the receptionist at a birth-to 3 center here where I live, and am in a firm believer in early intervention--I hope all goes well for you and little man--he might just need that little push, and besides, having him evaluated won't hurt anything.

  5. you are busy this week! My sister had a slow talker, but it was partly due to her oldest being a talker and no one else getting a word in edgewise. I think sometimes as a parent it is a great thing to have resources isn't it? I love that whenever I have worries about my little girl I can get the help i need.

  6. Such things to deal with. XO to you and Little Man. You are such an amazing woman, Renee. Wow, that date is coming up fast! We'll meet up when you're in town and settled.

  7. Have they considered whether he might have a hearing problem? Sometimes that's the cause of not speaking. Hope things go well. Good luck with the move and keep going on your list.

    1. He saw the audiologist and the ENT doc in April. He had nothing alarming on his hearing test. Husband was the same way when he was little. I'm not horribly worried but it can't hurt to have him evaluated.

  8. It doesn't hurt to have him he talking more at daycare? Being around other talkers may help him or he may be quieter, it depends on the child...

and good luck with all the packing, if I lived closer I'd help, as I am on summer break now...
