I would like to say that I'm on track to finish the baby blanket by next weekend but I'm pretty sure I'd be lying. It's not that I'm not working on it, because I totally am, but I think I've overestimated my knitting speed. I still have around 45-50 rows left (half of which are garter stitch) but I've not been knitting as much as I would like. Story of my life. I'm sure I'll have it finished before 2021 hits, though.

I did work on it though, I promise.

I also pulled out some granny squares and the Herbivore Shawl. Little Man and I watched Home Alone and Mickey's Christmas Carol the other night so I worked on both of those. I only managed one pattern repeat on the Herbivore shawl but that's fine. All forward progress is good progress.

But that's about it. I think.

This past week was the boys' last week of school before the winter break. It was kind of a rough week in a few ways, mostly just trying to make sure we got through everything...which reminds me, we need to finish up some Science work for Little Man by Tuesday. That shouldn't be an issue but I don't want to forget. The boys are caught up on their work (aside from that one assignment noted above). We also received "class lists" for when (haha, really, no...it's if) we go to a Hybrid model. Little Man will be staying with his teacher in Distance Learning. Stormageddon will switch to the other Kinder teacher as she's doing Distance Learning but his teacher will be doing Hybrid. I'm not that fussed about it, because it's a really big if at this point.

Aside from that, Stormageddon's room had some overhauling done. Since his new bed was put in place, his toys were kind of all over, disorganized, etc. So, I spent a good portion of yesterday going through his toys, collecting things that went together (like puzzle pieces, cards for games, game pieces, blocks, etc.), tossing out things that were broken, and we have a bunch of stuff for donation, which is so delightful. I'm not 100% finished as we still need to go through his stuffed animals but the worst of it is done. Stuffed animals will be easy. He did work with me in the beginning but then he got bored. Honestly, it's easier to make decisions without him. There wasn't actually all that much that was thrown out. He doesn't tend to break/mutilate his toys like Little Man can so a lot of things were donated.

On Stormageddon's last day of school, they had a project to make gingerbread houses out of paper bags. If they were in-person, they would have made them with cookies and candies. Little Man had the same teacher for Kindergarten and 1st grade that Stormageddon has this year for Kindergarten. So, I know what she does. But, this year is different so they made them with paper bags. It was still a cute project.

I've mentioned that's it's increasingly more difficult to catch a photograph of Little Man. He's getting to the "mom, don't take photos of me" stage of the...tween years. Is he officially a tween? He's ten. I don't know. Regardless, I caught this one while he was eating breakfast yesterday morning. He has no idea I took it.

Little Man and Stormageddon did an art project together...of sorts. Stormageddon drew the gingerbread man body and colored it; Little Man did the face (eyes & mouth) and the buttons down the front. But of course I couldn't get him in the photo...so, it's just Stormageddon showing off their work.

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend and all that. I'm looking into my next Self-Imposed Year of Projects (I think) and how this year is shaping up and...well, we can talk about that later.

This is how I feel about this year so far....and yes, my hair has gotten really long.

  1. Sounds like you are making good progress all things considered! My boys have finished school, which is good as we are all in school, so I'm glad we are done so now we can isolate for 2 weeks!

  2. WOW busy year!! Hope you get to find some knitting time. I simply cannot comprehend how exhausting it must be to keep two young boys entertained 24/7. Best wishes for the new year.

  3. I wish my kids would participate in toy culling! We have to be sly and hope they never notice! You were still really productive, even if you didn't get all your knitting chores done.
