Both the Violet Waffles hats have been washed/blocked but I haven't taken photographs yet because of who I am as a person lately. Also, randomly, I've not finished weaving in ends on my FrankenSocks yet. I can see them next to me, mocking me....and there they sit. ::sigh::

But, I did finish Ella the Elephant for my niece. I was stuck with all the sewing/seaming, which is my least favorite part of knitting most toys (Susan Claudino's patterns are an exception because they're almost entirely knit in one piece or parts are added in as you go along - love me some Susan Claudino patterns). Truthfully, I find some of the finishing techniques like sewing/seaming to be a PITA (pain in the ass). I actively avoid it...like seriously try to avoid it. I've had the seaming/sewing to do for several weeks (.....since *mumblemumble* 12 October 2018.....) and I was doing anything but! But it's finished and it can go off to Wisconsin :)

I have a FO Friday post scheduled for this week, if you want to come back and take a look at all the things I've finished since Tour de Fleece :) It's kind of a big one. Oops. I suppose that's what I get for not doing proper FO Friday posts on the regular...

So, I avoided the seaming/sewing noted above by working on granny squares. I finished my 6th square, started and finished my 7th square, and added the missing round to my 1st square. Unfortunately, I ran out of yarn on my 7th one and had to bust into the second cake, which, of course, wasn't in the same spot in the color sequence from the outside...but it was from the inside and cue a yarn barf. ::sigh:: I hand-wound the cake into a ball, which was the size of Stormageddon's head...but I was able to finish the last round on my 7th square and I started my 8th. So if, assuming that the cakes all have the same yardage, I only get seven squares from a cake, I'm probably going to have to pick up a 5th cake, just so I have more options for my sizing. It's much easier to muss with 35 squares than 28 squares. But we'll see when I get that far. Depending on how many squares I actually wind up with in the end, I'll probably have enough for a cuddle blanket for my lap, which is perfectly fine with me.

Aside from finishing up the elephant and working on the granny squares, I worked a few rounds on Little Man's Sockhead and the Random Hat. But that was honestly about it. I was not very exciting this week for many reasons.

This week has been extra busy, due to a couple Cub Scout events/meetings thrown in that we don't have every week, and almost never the same week, as well as Stormageddon's annual IEP meeting on Friday. We had a Scout Pack meeting on Tuesday night and a Den meeting on Thursday. Unfortunately, Little Man got sick Wednesday evening and missed school on both Thursday and Friday, which meant no swimming lessons and no Den meeting on Thursday night. He was so miserable on Thursday. Poor kiddo. He wound up taking two naps (one in the morning and one around 6pm). It was kind of a blessing though, I think we really needed the break. Friday morning, he woke up as chipper as ever and looking back on it, I probably should have sent him to school (apparently our district does not have a "24 hour fever-free" policy, so I could have)....but being home another day, we made sure he was back to normal(ish) (honestly, is my child ever normal?).

In addition to that, we also had all our usual routine stuff: school for Little Man, swimming lessons (sans Thursday), speech therapy for Stormageddon....

Oh, and we had a birthday party yesterday and I have an auction meeting tonight. Because let's just punish myself a little more, right?

As a result of being so busy, I was basically too busy to take photos (I do have a couple, though). We did note that the caterpillars have returned to the bush on our walk home and have started making cocoons.

I also took a photo of Little Man on Thursday evening, just after he woke up.

He was curled up with his blankets, playing Plants VS Zombies on the iPad.

Outside of that, I caught the boys in their Halloween costumes, zooming around the house like crazy people.

Stormageddon (well, both boys, really) loves the new Incredibles movie and we've been watching it pretty much daily for the last couple weeks....and they were the boys for Halloween so Stormageddon has been going around telling everyone, "I Jack-Jack; I have powers!" and then he'll run off. Silly child.

Oh, and I don't know if I mentioned this.....we have a mouse in the house again. I haven't seen the bugger, I haven't heard the bugger, and if Puppy hadn't been sniffing around by the fridge and under my dining table, I wouldn't know it was there. Soooo, there's that. It happens in the winter in our area, apparently. ::sigh:: I don't care. I want it gone. I want its family gone. Gone, I tell you, GOOOOOONNNNNNE!

I hope you've had a lovely week otherwise :) Like I mentioned above, I'll be back on Friday for FO Friday and again next week. I don't know that I'll be back this week other than that but you never know...

  1. You have such a busy life, good luck trying to catch the mouse (before it becomes mice). Can you borrow a cat? Well done on your finished object and all the things you’ve achieved this year.

  2. If I had a mouse in my house one of us would be gone! Once upon a time we must have carried one in in a box from somewhere else. (Shudder that I was that close to it, if it was me that carried it in). I can't remember how we caught it, but we must have. It's no longer here and I am. :) Good luck getting your mouse gone!

  3. ughhhh to the mouse and I agree, gone, gone, gone is right! Our dog is great at catching them and letting me know too when one is about. Sometimes you just can't avoid them this time of year but I hope you get it caught and real soon!

  4. Sorry about the mouse (mice?) and I hope they vacate the premises soon. As usual your week updates make me feel very slothlike - you are amazing in all you do.

  5. I like how you have the Star Wars posters framed and up in your house.
