Year Eight: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - Because of COURSE I did (Update #3)

Happy Sunday! If you're just tuning in (Seriously? Are there people out there that are just now finding me?!), you've fallen into my Self-Imposed Year of Projects update. So, you know, stay awhile, read my musings, drink a cup of coffee (Bailey's optional....maybe), see what goes on in my neck of the not-woods :)

Admittedly, I've not finished weaving in the ends yet. I really should do that so I can wear it, right? Maybe I'll get around to it this week. Maybe not.

I guess I'm back to the old adage or starting two new projects when I finish one.....oops.

I wound up doing some rearranging on my side of the bedroom with the addition of the new spinning wheel. I needed to put it in a spot that was out of reach of my children, who can be somewhat destructive, and don't always understand why they can't touch something, even if I explain it to them sixteen different ways to Sunday. It's just safer to get the wheel out of reach. So, some rearranging happened. In the move around, Viktor, my Majacraft Pioneer spinning wheel, came down from it's corner perch and was replaced by the antique wheel...and all of a sudden, Viktor is much more accessible and I decided that it had been ages since I had spun and I had some fiber lying about from a recent dive into my stash the following day.....and, oops, I started a spinning project. I started with about 8 oz of merino and I've maybe spun...not quite half. I should probably weigh the remaining ball of fiber, just to check so I don't overfill a bobbin. I would rather do a two-ply off two relatively equally weighted bobbins than have to do an Andean ply with a bunch of singles from the same bobbin. It's a lovely spin, though. I've had the fiber in my stash for [mumblemumble] six and a half years. I bought it at Wisconsin Sheep & Wool the fall after we had moved to California. It's been there awhile....it deserves to be spun.

In addition to that, I started another project. In this case, it's not for me. I'm making a cowl for Stormageddon's speech therapist. She's been trying to teach him to speak properly for the last year and a half....she deserves something nice. And I know she'll wear a cowl because I've seen her wear them. Unfortunately, I was working on it last night and I wound up frogging the 4+ rows I had because even though I had counted at least six times, I was still a stitch short. ::sigh:: I did restart it last night, so it's not like I lost a lot of time. I'm still not too thrilled about it, though.

In addition to the two new projects, I pulled out the Ewetopia Stripey Socks and knit a few rounds on them. I also found some contrast yarn for the heels and toes, which I was planning on doing anyway. I grabbed a couple of mini skeins from Leading Men Fiber Arts that I bought specifically for contrast heels/cuffs/toes. So, putting them to good use.

I also worked a few rounds on Little Man's Sockhead. I think I'm ready to start the crown decreases...maybe. I just haven't yet.

I also finished up my 5th granny square and I'm about 1/3 finished with the 6th one...or did I finish my 6th one and start my 7th? No, I think I'm on my 6th one. Regardless, progress :)

We had kind of a mundane week around here. The weather was non-cooperative for much of the week, resulting in afternoons inside with movies and such.

Stormageddon actually took this photo on my phone. He handed it to me and I had something like 32 photos, almost all of Little Man sitting in this position. Silly child.

We spent one lazy, rainy afternoon watching movies and Stormageddon worked on learning how to write in his wet-erase book that he got for Christmas. I think he just likes using the wet paper towel to wipe his work but hey, if it means he'll do some work....

Like I said, it was pretty rainy this week.

We did get to talk to school here and there during the week. Stormageddon found a snail without a house (slug) while we were walking to one day. We moved him to a safer area. We're just those kinds of people. We also got to pet some kitties, which the boys both love.

But that was about it, honestly. Maybe more will happen this coming week. I'm not going to hold my breath but you know :)

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend!
