I only worked on two projects this week: the fingerless mitts and the baby blanket. I'm still working on the ribbing for the fingerless mitts but I'm close to being finished with that. Then I move onto the hand/thumb. If I actually work on them, I could knock them out in a few days but that requires working on them.

I also worked on the baby blanket. Of course I'm still worried about running out of yarn, which is silly at this point because I'm still on the first (of four) skeins and I've used maybe half the skein. I think I'll be okay but I always have that worry about playing Yarn Chicken. Thankfully the pattern is pretty easy to follow but I think if I ever make it again, I'm going to chart out or write out the block portion that is repeated because then I can make alterations in width and length. But for right now, it's fine.

I thought about working on a few other projects but nothing ever came of that. i think I pulled out socks to look at one day and I did take down the cowl I finished (though the ends still need to be woven in).

I worked on the book inventory for my knitting books the other day, again. I made sure the first shelf was entered into Ravelry. I didn't have to add very many as most things were already in the system but there were a few that needed to be added. I didn't start on the second shelf yet. Maybe this week I'll look into that.

The weather has finally calmed down around here. It's not so hot. Actually, it's almost a little on the cold side (as in "I need a blanket to sit outside" cold - for it never really gets all that cold here). And that means fall is setting in and all the fall things are happening. The boys carved their pumpkins today. I'm still drying out the seeds but I'll probably roast them later tonight with salt and oil (because of course!). Our roommate made pumpkin soup yesterday, which was amazing. I also made an apple crumble type dessert.

Little Man continues to be an animal whisperer. This week, he caught a couple of fancy moths and a lizard. The lizard was perfectly content to sit on his arm and then in his hand. He was a little skittish at first but calmed down pretty quickly.

Like I said, he's an animal whisperer. They just come to him and let him catch them.

Stormageddon and I were a little goofy the other day. We decided to look like toads. I think I did a better job, honestly, but I have much more "chin" to pull the look off properly.

I mean, really, look at us. I definitely look more like a toad than he does, right?

I hope you've had a lovely weekend!

  1. Glad your kids are having some pumpkin fun. Covid is canceling most Halloween activites. I'm glad to hear the schools are doing a bit more to celebrate in our area. Our church donated candy to help fill their treat bags. I'm trying to get my Christmas socks and my sweater done as I already want to make a pair of fingerless mitts as a Christmas present. Do you have a pattern you like?

  3. I always get a kick out of your posts! Your boys and their pumpkins are splendid. My husband bought me a pumpkin to carve - I won't be doing trick or treaters at door because of Covid, but I will enjoy carving and sharing my creation with my granddaughter via Whatsapp video chatting. Have a spooooky Halloween.

  4. Yay for pumpkin carving. I used to take care of that duty when I lived at home.
