I would love to say that I spent a ton of time knitting this week but I'd be lying. A lot.

Honestly, I don't know that I did any knitting this past week at all, except maybe for a row or two on the baby blanket. I wish I were kidding. The sad part is that it's not like this past week was all that busy!

So, no real knitting this past week and that's sad.

Seriously, it was not a busy week around here! Little Man had a biography to write, which took us a few days to complete (we had the information picked out the week before so all he had to do was organize it and write the paper, which really meant him dictating and me typing, which is fine). He then had to do a video of him reading his biography which we uploaded to a class site. He also had to do an in-class presentation that was limited to four minutes, which wasn't all that difficult. Because it was all the 4th and 5th graders, their three teachers altered schedules so they didn't have much to work on aside from their biographies.

Stormageddon just had his regular class meetings. They don't have to do the biography in kindergarten and 1st grade. They did dress up in their costumes on Friday for class, which was nice. The kids were so excited, even if it was all done virtually. Usually, they have a parade of costumes for the preschool, kinders, and 1st graders at the school and then the 2nd-5th graders have historical timeline (basically, all the kids are lined up based on the birthdate of the person they've picked for their biography, in costume and the middle schoolers give information about the time periods like what was going on in the world, major advancements, etc.). It's actually a lot of fun. Buuuuut, this year, we didn't get to do that. It's okay, though.

Little Man was Alexander Hamilton. He wasn't the only one, of course. I know one of his friends also picked Hamilton. He's only dressed in costume from the waist up because why bother with the pants if no one was going to see them? He also had the hat but not for this photo.

Stormageddon pulled out the Spiderman costume he wore last year. It was fine. He didn't care. And he was cute so all is well.

On Halloween, meaning yesterday, we stayed home, not doing much until the late afternoon. We had friends stop by (one of Stormageddon's classmates was dying to see him in-person - her older sister and Little Man have been together since they were in kindergarten so Stormageddon and his friend have known each other since they were still in strollers). We also went for a drive to see Halloween decorations around town and stopped by a different friends' place (she bought a pastry mat for me and I needed to pick it up so we were out that way anyway). Then we came home, had some candy, and didn't do much else. We didn't even watch a movie! I'm so ashamed!

Other than that, not much has been happening around here. We moved a bookshelf from our front room to Little Man's room because Husband's building an enclosure for his 3D printer and putting it in that space, which meant that things housed on said bookshelf needed to be relocated. Most of it has been moved to my bookshelves in the bedroom, some are in plastic bins under the bed (photo albums from my family - like my great-grandparents' photos), and some things were put elsewhere. Stormageddon's room is going to get a thorough going-over one of these days. He has too many toys with missing/broken pieces, and some things that just take up an asinine amount of space in his room and he doesn't use them or he's too big for them (think push cars and an egg chair). Those need to go. Then maybe we can organize his room a bit better. His room is quite a bit smaller than Little Man's so we have to use our vertical space better in his room. It doesn't help that the closet in his room houses things like our vacuum cleaner and the leaves for the table. We do not have another space for those. So he has an armoire/wardrobe for his clothes and other things that is separate from the built-in closet.

Someday. Someday. ::sigh::

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend and maybe I'll actually do some knitting this week and have something to show for it!

  1. Goodness young lady. You are allowed to breathe! It's okay to not accomplish. Relish the moment! Drink every second in of your boys being young, laughing and talking with you. Honestly, it will be gone before you know it. I'd cut off my arm if I could get those days back when my kids were elementary and middle school aged. Enjoy the present.

  2. Sounds like a busy week! I usually only get crafting work done after the kids go to bed, I totally feel you about not being able to make progress!

  4. I’ve always been super impressed you manage to do any crafting with how busy your life is and all you do with your boys, so don’t worry.

  5. Halloween was quiet around here too; I talked to a few neighbors and they didn't get trick-or-treaters. We had four. LOve, love LIttle Man's costume. Did you make that or was able to find it at a store? He is so grown up looking too. Time flies!
