With the election in the United States this past week, I can say that any knitting I did was stress-knitting. Specifically, I spent a good portion of Tuesday working on the Come Sail Away baby blanket. I actually made some decent progress and my tension didn't get too wonky. I finished the first row of blocks and I'm about halfway through the second row of blocks. I also worked on it when we watched V for Vendetta on Thursday (though that was harder as I was knitting in the dark).

I think that was the only knitting I did, though.

This last week has been busy and I've been trying to keep myself busy. With the election comes a lot of high-charged, opinionated people, probably myself included. I am so very tired of the hate spewing out of this country right now and I am tired of playing nice. I've called people out before but now, I have no problem being rude about it. Apparently people don't like that. Guess what? Do. Not. Care. I'm over it. I'm done coddling people in the name of unity.

So, stress-knitting was a total thing. And stress-cleaning. And stress-eating. And stress-doing-laundry. And stress-lazing.

It was all a thing around here this past week.

Other than that, I cannot say a whole lot else happened, really. Early November is filled with birthdays in our world. Husband's niece, my niece, and Little Man all have birthdays within the first 10 days of November (and I'm always caught off-guard by it ever year). Husband also has a cousin with twin daughters that have their birthday in there, too (but at least I don't need to ship presents for them). We also spend 5 November watching V for Vendetta because Guy Fawkes Day. I will say that it felt different watching it this year. I'm not sure how to put my finger on it but with the election and the blatant shitshow that's been happening, watching that movie just felt different this year.

I don't have many photos from this past week. I finally turned our furnace on, which freaked out Husband the morning after I turned it on (about 6am) because it kicked on and that first push always smells awful like something's burning and he thought his 3D printer was on fire.

And Stormageddon, of course, loves having the fireplace on so I brought in some wood from the huge pile (it's still a huge pile) and we had a fire the other night. He plopped himself down in front of it and was happy.

Stormageddon also decided that cuddling with daddy was a good thing so he curled up with Little Man's Nintendo DS (as his is currently on it's way to Nintendo to be fixed) and played while Husband watched some videos on his laptop.

Like I said, it's been a pretty quiet week other than election noise, which is never fun but is definitely necessary.

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend and beginning of the week. I hope to be on time next week but we'll see how that goes.

  1. Ah yes, I love a fire in the fireplace - good plan...I think I will put one on tonight. It is cold and dark and damp today - a fire would be perfect. I had a little chuckle at your stress laundry - I do that too!!

  2. I love fireplace fires!! We would burn ours almost daily in the winter (retirees) but when snowbirding in Florida, we don't burn as many fires. We live in the woods so we have more wood than we could ever burn. I LOVE the smell of campfires. I have a "baby" firepit that I like to use and thankfully hubby has not gone spastic over the burn marks on the deck when a too long log falls out after burning through the middle. Lucky my hubby has always been an "our house is to use" not "a temporary location for someone else to buy".

  3. Your fire looks so inviting. Has Little Man read the 39 Clues series; I think he may like it. The main characters are a sister-brother duo and travel around the world.

  4. Sometimes, all we can manage is the stress-induced activities. I stress clean TINY areas. Like detail my desk, or the bathroom vanity, or the front of the refrigerator. Everything else may be a dumpster fire, but at least SOMETHING is clean.
