Year the TENTH: Self-Imposed Year of Projects - The weather has been delightful (Update #7)

Hello and happiest of Sundays to you! While the rest of the country seems to be dealing with ice and snow, we have had some minimal rain, some wind, and mostly delightful weather. I will say that I do not hate winter in California. Anyway, let's get on with today's update.

FOs (Finished Objects)

Greenwood Fiberworks Dark BFL (Viktor): started 28 June 2020; finished 17 January 2021

Nope. Nothing new to see here. Not surprising.

13. Alpaca (Viktor): started 17 January 2021

Admittedly, there's been very little knitting this past week. Again. It's not that I didn't do any knitting but what I did was pretty minimal. I finished up the leg portion of the Minecraft Socks and I'm working on the heel. Hopefully I'll have that finished up soon enough. I've been using these during Stormageddon's meetings because they're interesting enough but I don't necessarily have to pay a ton of attention (says me, who had to tink back a few rounds twice because it was apparent that I couldn't count to three).

I also worked a little on the Sand Drift Blanket. It's one of those projects that is fairly meditative but you need a big chunk of time to work on it...and then you feel like you're not making any progress. ::sigh:: Regardless, I did a couple rows and that's delightful.

But that's it!

Husband has been busy this week. He has two 3D printers - a Prusa and a Prusa Mini. He's been working on making Mandolorian helmets for awhile. The first attempt was done at 125% and was way too big. I think I posted about it before. It was more like Spaceballs and less like Star Wars. So, he made one at 100% (worn by Stormageddon), which was too small for him. He could get it on but he had to move his mouth weird to get it over his cheeks. Then he made one at 105% (worn by Little Man), which was still a little too small. He finally settled on 110% for him, which is what he's wearing. He's still not completely finished. He's going to paint them black, then paint them mirror chrome on top of the black, which should turn out really well. As such, these are how they look right now.

I have a little family of Mandolorians!

Husband isn't the only one that's been creative. I decided to make cookies this week. A friend had posted a recipe for banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and I decided it sounded good. It winds up making a double batch, because it uses three bananas so I wound up freezing half the dough (which is currently in my fridge thawing out to make more). The cookies end up really  moist and are likely to mold quickly, hence the freezing. They didn't last very long, to be honest...although, I did practically have to shove a chunk in Stormageddon's mouth to get him to properly try it. ::sigh:: That child!

But wait! That's not all! Stormageddon made a Valentine on Monday as part of a school project. I think this one is for Husband :)

He was very proud of himself. Also, do you see this child? This is how he was sitting to play video games earlier this week (Luigi's Mansion 3, in case you're interested). I cannot sit like that. It hurts my knees. To be fair, I've never been able to really sit like that because it hurts my knees. But look at him! Just sitting there like it's nothing!

I also caught him hiding under blankets in Little Man's room. To be fair, Little Man was trying to make a bed on the floor for some reason and Stormageddon comondeered it. I'm pretty sure those are all Little Man's blankets and Stormageddon is just hiding under them. Silly child.

And speaking of Little Man! Do you see how big this child is?! I'm just able to rest my chin on top of his head. Barely. He's getting so damn tall and growing out of all the size 10 pants he has (and even some of the size 12 ones - but not the 14s...yet). His feet are almost as big as mine. But the hilarious thing about this photo is the shirt. He's had this shirt for about seven years now. Auntie bought it for him when we went on a cruise and he's been wearing it as a sleeping shirt ever since. This shirt used to go down past his knees and cover his arms almost to his wrists. And now it's a perfect fit. I'm not looking forward to the day when he can't wear it anymore. ::sigh:: It's going to be a sad day.

Anyway, I hope you've had a good week and weekend. Tomorrow is Presidents' Day in the US, which means the boys don't have school and a bunch of places have sales. What it's really about is a day to celebrate all the US Presidents and it's in February because George Washington's birthday was February 22, 1732 and Abraham Lincoln's birthday was February 12, 1809 and they're two of our most famous presidents. So, there's that. Oh, and it's Valentine's Day. Woot woot!
