As stated in the title, I'm sick. I'm definitely a bit of a hot mess. But, that doesn't mean the week was unlived. I'm a mom of two kiddos...I still have to do things. ::sigh::

Wisconsin life continues to be ever-changing and I don't just mean the weather, though definitely that, too.

Husband and I both tested positive for Covid on Sunday evening via the rapid test that the CDC sent out. Husband had been sick for several days, then I came down with it on Wednesday or Thursday. We figured it was just a nasty cold as we just had Covid at the end of January/beginning of February and we're both vaccinated. When friends of ours that we had spent much of the weekend with tested positive, it prompted us to test ourselves....and lo, we have the 'Rona.

I'm not going to sugarcoat any of this: this round has been rough. Constant dry mouth, the feeling of something being stuck in your throat but you can't cough it out or clear it out, congestion so bad that your face feels like you've been hit with a brick thrown by a professional baseball pitcher, coughing like you've got bronchitis, loss of smell (which may be because of the congestion), loss of most taste, exhaustion from doing normal things like taking a shower (things that don't normally make you tired). Oh, and random body aches. And maybe a fever here and there. I'm probably forgetting a few symptoms.

And then the boys started showing symptoms. Because why not? Their rapid tests came back negative today but I'm waiting on the PCR test before I consider sending them back to school at all, and they need to start feeling better, obviously.

Soooo.....it's been kind of a hot mess around here.

And Mother Nature is also a hot mess. We woke up to snow last week on Tuesday. It melted off by that afternoon and while it was pretty to look at, it's April and we should be basically over this now.

Like I said, pretty......but it's April. ::sigh::

We did some outdoor work over the weekend, even though we were sick. We cleared out a space for Puppy to be on his long lead. We've had the lead up since we moved in, basically, but because it was winter, we couldn't clear out the overgrowth on the far end. It was finally warm enough for a hot minute to clear some of it out. Brambles and raspberry/blackberry bushes were removed and the weeds were taken care of. Don't worry, we have plenty of raspberry/blackberry bushes elsewhere on the property. This was just an area of maybe 100 sq. ft. at most., and it's by the propane tank so it should be cleared out anyway.

We also moved some things to the "burn pile," mainly branches from some bushes we cut down a few weeks ago. The boys helped with that. Husband brought out the lawn tractor with the pull-behind cart and we used that. I also put a final sealant coat on the beehives that the boys painted.

But all that work has a price and that means that I've been exhausted today. Hopefully I'll sleep good. We'll see....

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend. I think I'm going to call it a night...so tired.....

  2. Oh my - life just keeps on challenging us doesn't it. I hope you and hubby are soon on the mend, and that your boys' tests are negative. Despite feeling poorly you certainly did a good cleanup on your property - cool little tractor thingey you got there.

  3. I'm so sorry you both have been hit by Omicron. It's a week later right now; I hope you're both on the mend. Do take it easy when you can.
