I didn't start the new blanket (or the toys that I'm planning to remake). We were just too busy this week with appointments and events and school starting. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. I did spend time working on the Lakeline Tank. Little Man and I started watching Stranger Things together this week (I've seen partway into the second season already; he hadn't seen any of it) so I spent that time working on the Lakeline Tank. It's just stockinette at this point so it's not a big deal. I do have to occasionally measure but it's not that often.

Aside from that, I worked a little bit on the Vanilla Socks (#11). I'm maybe 2/3 through the foot at this point. I'm past the gusset decreases so I'm just strolling down the foot. It's kind of on auto pilot at this point, which isn't a bad thing.

It's been a week around here. Last weekend, we dropped Husband off at the airport for his work trip to San Francisco. I immediately followed that with a dyeing class. I think I talked about that last week.

On Monday, Husband and I (separately) celebrated our 13th anniversary. He went out with friends in San Francisco and I went with the boys (and friends) to the market.

Yes, they also have a petting zoo. That's really why we went: so the boys could see the farm animals. And pet them. And give them food. We saw various birds (peacocks, chickens, swans, geese), goats, sheep, pot-bellied piggies, miniature horses, cows, and I believe they had an elk. The kids were happy, so that's always a good thing.

Tuesday was a busy day. Little Man had an appointment with his specialist and I had a telehealth appointment with the ear/nose/throat office. And then we went to both boys' schools for drop-in where they could drop off their school supplies and meet their teachers and see who they had in their classes. Little Man came home with a combo lock for his locker and the drama that ensued.....I'm not ready for this teenage crap. He was such a pill. But, we got through it.

Wednesday we kind of laid low because we knew Thursday was going to be a rough day. And it was.

The boys started school on Thursday. And it was a rough and long day. And then we had to pick up Husband from the airport. One of those days.

Friday was Stormageddon's 8th birthday. He was quite pleased with his presents, which is always a plus.

Aside from that, our new bed frame arrived this past week. I had to take the old one apart and move the mattress off but that was the worst of it. I swear the guy was in and out in less than 10 minutes and set up the entire frame within that time.

I think the only other thing that happened was an impromptu sleepover last night at our house with a bunch of the boys that ride the bus together (our neighbors that are around Little Man's age). They were up late and it was nuts but they were a good group of kids. We made pancakes this morning and I taught them all about butter and sugar instead of syrup, which may or may not have been motivated by a growing lack of syrup in our house...but I've eaten my pancakes that way since I was quite young so I've taught the boys the same. And now their friends.

Anyway, it's September and tomorrow is Labor Day in the US so the boys don't have school nor does Husband work. I have things to do around here. I should check my bees and pick more tomatoes, plus a few other things.

I hope you've had a lovely week and weekend!

  1. At least you got some knitting in but how you did that I don't know. You had a very busy week! I was watching Stranger Things but then I got tired of it and now I'm watching Sweet Magnolias...I like it. A little "lighter" than Stranger Things. Your house is a log cabin? Very cool and you are gardening and keeping bees? Are you canning your tomatoes? I used to do all that and I miss it. Happy Labor Day and I hope you get to put your feet up and do some knitting!

    1. We do have bees and the garden. We've been making tomato soup with our tomatoes but we also just eat them. Well, Husband does. I kind of....I'm not a huge fan of raw tomatoes so if they're in something, I'm okay but I can't just eat them like he can.

I also started Sweet Magnolias but I didn't get very far. It's one of those things I have to watch by myself because Husband will find it boring, which is fine.

  2. Combination locks.....oh how they make a person crazy. I didn't think any school had lockers anymore. None of our public schools do. Kids have to carry all their supplies the entire day. But then, most of their textbooks are online now. My. How times have changed in the past 50 years.
During the winter there, what will your bees do? There won't be flowers for pollinating will there? Will they still make honey? Do they stay in their hives? Do you need to "feed' them? So many questions huh.
