Happy Sunday :)

I've had quite a few non-YOP posts these past few weeks. You can find a yarn review here, a yarn dyeing adventure, another FO Friday post, and some stash acquisition. I had a hot minute to blog about a few different things this week so....I did : )

Works-in-Progress (WIPs):

7. Hat Design: started March 20, 2017
8. BMFA Handpainted Roving: started March 23, 2017
9. Vanillaish Rainbow Socks: started June 1, 2017
10. Twilight Socks (from blanks): started June 8, 2017

Only the socks have seen any action this week. And I do mean all three pairs.....meaning I pulled my SOSocks out of pseudo-hibernation.

I'm actually further along than this. I'm to the point where I'm supposed to switch back to my contrast and do the toe decreases. I think. I should check on that.

The other two socks have grown but not significantly. I've just barely started the "pattern" portion of the Vanillaish Rainbow socks and I'm still on the cuff of the Twilight socks. Nothing huge going on. Progress is progress.

In addition to that, Viktor had some action this week. I finished spinning the second bobbin and spun the entire third bobbin. The first bobbin is at the top, the second is in the middle, and the third is on the bottom.

I'm hoping to get the fourth one started and finished and get everything plied before Tour de Fleece starts.....I suppose that means I need to get spinning.....

This week has been so busy.

I got this boy to willingly sit on the potty and GO. I didn't have to fight him. Of course, that was on Monday. On Tuesday, I was ready to sell him to the circus. It didn't get better on Wednesday, either. ::sigh::

On Tuesday, Little Man's class went to Elkus Ranch, which I mentioned last week because we had gone last weekend on Saturday. So, that was the class field trip.

Since I didn't go on the field trip, one of the other moms took a few photos of Little Man for me. There are a few more but since there are other kids in the photos (where you can see their faces) or you can see plainly the back of Little Man's shirt (with his school logo and such), I won't post them. The only "bad" thing was that we were told they would be back between 1:45pm-2pm but they actually got back closer to 1pm.

On Wednesday, this happened:

Little Man's last day of Kindergarten was this past Wednesday. He came home with a HUGE bag of work and art projects and Father's Day gifts, as well as being totally wired because LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

On top of that, we had a few other things happening on Wednesday. After school, we went to one of his classmate's apartment complex because they have a swimming pool (heated, in-ground and there's even a smaller pool that's only 18" deep for small children like Stormageddon). A different classmate is moving to Denver in a few weeks so we had a going-away party for him. That sounds confusing. One classmate is moving and another classmate hosted his going-away party. There we go. That sounds better.

After that, we had a birthday party to go to at the bounce house place. Unfortunately, I was losing Stormageddon by that point. We had to leave before cake because he was just screaming and kicking and being a general pain in my backside. I actually spent about half that drive home crying because it was such a horrible day.

I hadn't quite lost him at this point. There is an indoor climbing wall and he kept trying to climb it without the harness so we finally put him in the harness....but that's about as far as we got. It appeared as though the harness was getting in his way. Oh well.

After we got home and sort of resettled, Little Man drew this for me. It's a pink heart with a pink rainbow and it says, "I luv u" underneath. He knew I wasn't having the greatest day and wanted to make me feel better.

That night, Little Man crashed. Hard.

I told him to get his jammies on and get into bed and I'd be in in a few minutes. By the time I got in there, less than five minutes later, he was out cold with his bedroom light still on.

Little Man had swimming lessons on Thursday. He was fake-sleeping when I parked the car. You can see the slightest hint of a smirk on his face. Booger.

On Friday, Husband took Little Man to work for bring your kid to work day or something. I don't really know. However, I had to pick him up around 12:30pm because he had a pair of doctor appointments that afternoon. He had an audiology recheck and then met with his ENT about his tubes.

Yes, he had a spider painted on his face (from his day at work with Daddy). And of course I had Stormageddon along...

And then yesterday happened.......yesterday was a long and tiring day. We did some tree.....well, I'd say "trimming" but, really, we lopped off the tops of six trees, cut back the magnolia tree a bit, ripped out some bushes, cut back some other bushes, and made a lot of wood chips.

I ganked this from our realtor's Facebook page (he's the one that came over with the chainsaw).

That's what is left of our magnolia tree and you can see the tops of three palm trees in front OF IT (which were a whole other matter).

This is a photo of five of the lopped trees. The tops extended probably a good twenty feet into the air. And yes, they grow back. These are camphor trees and it's just what they do.

We rented a wood chipper to take care of the debris and we have a few mounds of wood chips to spread around in the backyard. Unfortunately, we did have a mishap with the wood chipper. We didn't have the spout angled correctly (it wants to shoot straight out and, theoretically, into the back of a truck) and it was shooting straight out for a bit.....at the house......resulting in a broken window (Stormageddon's window, actually). It's double-paned glass and only the outside panes broke (on both sides) so we don't have to do it OMGRIGHTNAO but we will need to fix it.

So, our back yard needs some attention but the big stuff is done.

After all that, a cousin of mine stopped over. He was in town for work and had posted something on Facebook and I was like, "hey, you're just 10 bird miles away" so I spent a few hours with him last night. His paternal grandfather and my maternal grandfather were brothers, making he and I second cousins....though he's almost twenty years older than I am (he graduated from high school the year I was born, if I remember correctly).

And that brings me to now......I think.......which is Sunday and Father's Day so with that, I'm off on another non-adventure. I hope you're all having a lovely Sunday!

  2. Your spinning is gorgeous. Which reminds me - I need to get back to my wheel, pronto. The socks look great too.

  3. Nice touch that the polish on your toes coordinates with the sock WIP! Looking at your lopped trees reminds me about how much work is ahead of me in my new yard!
