Oh hey, would you just look at that?! I finished up another project. I literally finished it yesterday. The actual knitting has been done for awhile but I hate weaving in ends and sewing and all that....guess what needed to be done? ::sigh:: But, I talked to my SIL last week and she said she was at 36 weeks sooooo, yeah, I needed to finish that and get it shipped! Not that baby will need it in the summer but, you know, then it's done and out of the way and so on and so forth.
So, I sucked it up and finished it last night. It does still need to be washed and I need to kill the acrylic so the bottom doesn't flip up, but other than that, it's good to go.

I'm now back down to a respectable twelve WIPs.
And let's talk about my WIPs. There's not been a lot of progress on any of them, quite honestly. I'm just working on the foot of the Abracadabra Sock. I've passed the halfway point, which is good. I might finish them before July. I think I worked on the linen stitch scarf for a few rows but I honestly don't remember. I didn't get a lot of crafting time this week.

In other fibery news, I've got a few events coming up. Well, not events as in "places I'm going" but, rather, things I plan to participate in. The first thing is Stash Dash. Now, officially, Stash Dash started on May 22 and runs until August 22, which is fine. However, because of the person I am (i.e., the type that wasn't paying attention), I missed the beginning of Stash Dash. Okay fine. No one said I had to play on anyone else's schedule, right? Soooooo, I'm going to do my own thing for Stash Dash. Because of course I am.
What am I going to be doing? Well, I'm so very glad you asked, anonymous internet person! I'm going to do a Summer Stash Down wherein I will win no prizes for my efforts other than using up some yarn and/or fiber. Basically, all the rules of Stash Dash will apply except the dates. You can find the rules here.
But we're missing an important piece of information, you cry! When am I going to be doing this Summer Stash Down? I'm so very glad you asked me another important question, anonymous internet person! The dates for my Summer Stash Down are going to be from 12am on Thursday, 18 June 2020 through 11:59pm on Tuesday, 11 August 2020. Why those dates specifically? School ends for the boys on 17 June, which is this Wednesday, and starts up again on 12 August. In other words, our actual summer "vacation."
But, that's not all!
While the Tour de France has been moved due to Covid-19, TPTB over in the Tour de Fleece group on Ravelry have decided to hold our annual Tour during the original dates: Saturday, 27 June 2020 through Sunday, 19 July 2020. We're also having a less-intense version during the rescheduled Tour de France, 29 August through 20 September. For right now, we'll just focus on the official one.
As of right now, those are my upcoming events. There's a possibility that Lambtown will happen in October but that's still four months away and a lot can change in four months. *opens arms wide and looks around*
And now on to California life.
We're still under our Shelter-in-Place orders but things are starting to loosen up for some things. I hear I can actually go to Michael's or Joann's instead of ordering online and having things shipped. I think they may still be doing curbside pickup as well. I've not tested any of this.
As I mentioned above, the boys finish school on Wednesday. That means that this past week has been busy with wrapping up everything. I had Stormageddon's Parent-Teacher conference. His teacher is not worried about him academically. He's more than ready for kindergarten academically. He still has trouble following instructions and sitting still but we already know about all that. So, there's that. Little Man had meetings, a final spelling test, a final check-in, and a few other things, and that was it. I don't know what his teacher has planned for the next few days but I guess we'll find out. In addition to that, I had to go to both schools to pick up and drop off materials. Oh, and I had to keep the boys on task, as well, which was a laugh as they have both checked out. ::sigh::
On Wednesday, I was feeling very Wednesday Addams. Dark hair (not natural), braids, and my "I'm not perky" Wednesday Addams shirt. I wore this to both schools.
Stormageddon read this entire book to me this week (Thursday, I think). It was the free book he got for signing up for the summer reading program at the library (well, I signed him up). He needed a little help with some of the words but he read it to me. He just might be my kid....
I'm pretty sure this is how he feels about the end of school.
Same, Stormageddon....same.
Anyway, I hope you've had a good week and weekend. Happy Sunday!

I notice you have had a finish every month. That's great. With wrestling 2 boys scheduled as well as home life.....getting any crafting time is tough, I am sure. The Baby Yoda pattern is so cute. I am sure it will be much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteOh, that reminds me of Tour de Fleece......off I go to check on the dates. Well done on your finishes and hooray for summer vacation starting next week. Best of luck with the stash down. It is hard in this sheltering in place days as it seems the fibre stores are just begging me to come and look and buy for my next project.
ReplyDeleteA "win no prizes, just get something finished" stash dash, that's just the thing for me. Thanks for sharing that idea. Can't wait to see what you come up with, your list is so impressive.
ReplyDeleteThat book looks like a fun read and up his alley! I think our crafts stores are only doing curbside pick up. I've been ordering off of Etsy for things and I plan to order the DMC floss colors I need from 123stitch.com.
